The shorter lug to lug allows more "bracelet wrap" and at 19mm with little taper it combines for a solid integrated watch effect. [nt]

Just confirmed with Rolex Canada, the new OP 34 has a 18mm bracelet! Very glad to have the old 114200! [nt]

Exactly. 114200 is 19mm and 124200 is 18mm. Big difference in how it will wear.
Rolex also put the smaller 2232 movement in the 124200 vs the 3130 in the 114200. So the old version has a wider bracelet and the same movement as the 114060 Submariner.
For me it is, certainly. Narrow bracelet with a movement only used in ladies references tells me the watch is now firmly positioned for them (no offence meant in any way).
The Maxi case really works with the 114200 and the wide bracelet combines to give it a substantial, vintage bubble back look but in a modern Rolex. Slimmer case and narrower bracelet 124200 won't have the same vibe at all, imho. Plus, the 2232 movement is so small apparently there is a big spacer around it to hold it in place, whereas the 3130 fits the 34mm case fully.
