Unless I am wrong about the number of marks, which I do not think to be.
That is a Training anoying (!) about this chrono and many, many others.
However: I would love to own a whithe one ... or any of the ones on Oysterflex ... even the WG one on an Oyster.

.....to accurately measure 1/8 of a second, it specifically requires the marking to be in 1/8th segments? Clearly, if the second hand moves at intervals that is way less than 1/5th, it will still be an accurate measure but just harder to differentiate exactly where it falls in between the 1/5th markers. If I was going to be anal about it, i would argue that Rolex dont argue that they will "display" 1/8th second, they just say that they will allow an accurate reading of 1/8th second. This interpretation makes their statement reasonable.

First mark shall be this: I the space inbetween to tge next mark: I is also a "mark" and the actual First mark, then comes the second mark: I which is actually the second mark to read (!), then the comming space is the third mark, and so on ... .
Example: the central hand stops after two marks: I I inbetween the third mark: I , then the central second hand is displaying 3/8 th of a second.
This can only work if scaling has four marks: I .
The central second hand makes 8 littel steps in a second, die to the beat ratio.

Rolex and others pay far to much attribute to a classic look of a chrono with five marks as this was right for movements with 18.000 beats per tour ( such a hand makes only five little steps per second).

The current Daytona scaling would be correct if Rolex would use a high beating 36.0000 beats per hour movement (like in the Zenith versions) nur the current Daytona movement is beating at 28.800 beats per hour, if I am not completely wrong.

.....all i am saying is that technically they are not mis-stating anything. It would certainly make it easier to read the accurate reading if they were to follow your prescription....but your prescription wouldn't actually make the watch any more accurate. Its just a visual facilitation.

To some this is important.To others, its irrelevant. For choice, I would rather have it as you describe but I don't think I would lose much sleep thinking about it.

the rubber strap and that grey dial in my opinion triumphs over the 116500LN with a black dial and bracelet. My personal preference however is the 116500 with the white dial which I fortunately now own but as my friend Kamal Rostov told me, the black dial and the 116519LN are more discreet and stealth. I can see his eye balls bulging out and his tongue sticking out with envy at the choices you have Joe!

Thing is, and seeing how the current modus operandi works, I may not even dare to dream of one. Sigh 😔

Having never seen one in the flesh , I feel totally qualified      nay obligated to chip in here

..... that I really do not like. I don’t like the shade of blue. I also really dislike combining brown and blue. For me, this feels more blingy than I am comfortable with.

As you already know we have quite an overlap in our Patek collections as we are both suckers for dark dials and white metal. I’m definitely a Patek and not a Rolex guy. However beginning of 2017 I bought the 116500LN Black Dial as my first Rolex (to my great surprise wait time was less than 1 month). I really have to admit it is a PERFECT beater for me, with the ceramic bezel. For a few month now I think a lot about adding the 116519LN in white gold, as I want to add a further piece with a rubber strap after the 5650G. But if I compare the price of the 116519LN with a 5164A which is roughly in the same price range, I think I still prefer the 5164A.. for sure it is more scratch sensitive but much more elegant from my point of view...

I am a big fan of many the new Daytona offerings. These two no exceptions.

When I first saw the renditions of the ceramic bezel precious metal pieces of the oysterflex I got really excited. Perfect blend of elegance and sportiness and captures the spirit of the Daytona. Previous versions on a leather strap was a bit of a dichotomy to me. However after having had the chance to handle all varieties together at a Rolex release my opinion I have to say both iterations in steel come out ahead. Particularly if it is a daily or sporty piece for the collection. Even with the ceramic bezel the precious metal pieces are a bit too mature for my taste, even though I find the beautiful.

The steel black dial is really a watch for any, and really any occasion. Can never go wrong with this. But of course what fits best in ones collection is a combination of what is already in a collection and ones lifestyle. Best of luck! And congrats! Probably.

history, or simply buy it because it is "the" watch to have and because you can't buy the bloody thing- i.e. hype overdrive
Its probably bought more by "A" list wannabee then watch collector. However the caveat here is that people on this forum will fall into a category that appreciate it as a watch, not bothered about hype or showing off...except Baron, because is just a show off.
