IWC

Ingenieur Automatic looks great to me too, Art.

How does it feel on the wrist? 40mm seems pretty refreshing after all of these jumbo sizes IWC has been putting out.

Only had it on for a few moments, but . . .

. . . it came across more sensibly than the 46 mm chronograph that was on my wrist only a few minutes before.  I rather liked the appearance of the black dial version on my wrist . . .

Yes, I liked it too.

Always have loved the Ingenieur, specially the model from the 80's and 90's, my fav one is the meca-quartz alarm chronograph from the 90's, despite of being 34mm, it looks great on my wrist and to my eyes. I could not afford it back in the 90's, so if I find one in good shape and at a fair price, I'll buy it.

I tried to wear the 42mm from 2007, but it was very uncomfortable on the wrist, way too thick, so I let it pass. I really liked that dial, nicely texturized with the Ingenieur logo.

With the 40mm one, a smile comes to my face, because now, maybe, I can have what I wanted for so long. An easy to wear and read SS watch for an every day use, and at a "fair" price. BUT, I'm not sure at all about the new dial, indexes look a bit too large to me, and the two layers.......................I don't know. Let's wait to have it here and wear it for a while before going for it.

Thank goodness -- a 40mm IWC sport watch with a nice, simple dial and bezel treatment!

Thanks, Art for presenting the latest collection.  I agree with you that the Ingenieur Automatics you post at the end of your article are the real winners out of this group.  The rest can go back to the drawing board IMO.  The worst piece to me is the one with the perlaged dial.  Why?  It's too big; the techy font coupled with an old-world decorative technique dial-side is bizarre.  Is it supposed to bring to mind high-end, handcrafted car engines?

Thanks,
Daos

Exactly - did that dial make you imagine Ralph Lauren's Bugatti?

No, I think not. Aren't these beautiful though?

The engines are lovely; the watch under discussion is not!

IWC has great pieces in their archives, but the last few years have almost nearly been a bust for me, in terms of novelties that I've actually liked.

Thanks for the pix!

After owning about 20 IWC watches

And cutting back to three, I can't see any from this lot joining my collection.

The only one that called to me in 5 years was the Climate Action, but I so wanted it to have a transparent case back. The ceramic bezel is great, complementing the black and creamy white dial.

The rest of the Ingenieurs seem to be scratch- and ding-magnets. And clunky.

. . . what I can do, Nico.

And, if it turns out to be impossible, it will be my pleasure to offer you one of Maggie's chihuahuas . . .

The Ingenieur Automatic is nice ...

But it never entered on my "radar" because of the non-standard strap attachment.

But by and large it seems a very harmonic collection.

Thanks for showing,

Nilo

The simpler, the better... that's the moral of the story.

Thanks a lot for the report Art!

I was quite disappointed by this Ingénieur collection but I would like to see it again to make a final judgement. But for me, the Ingénieur Automatic is the best by far.

Best regards.
