I’ve been dreaming of a Portuguese since first seeing the Jubilee. Then a few years later the 5001-07 came out, and that was the one. And I finally made it happen.

I had debated a long time between this and the Big Pilot.  Ultimately, I went with the BP, but the Portugieser leaves a lasting impression.  

this 5001-07 Portuguese is indeed the one of the iconic IWC that there is.

I have no big pilot wish, but the Portofino is my watch guide.

Have wanted one forever, and it both cases it was a specific model that cemented that desire. 

Early on I wanted every feature on every watch, but I learned to step back and look at overall design. This watch just has style.

But the perpetual is also amazing. The last time I met Hans Zimmer he was wearing the rose gold with the yin/yang moonphase.

Which model Portuguese and which model Golf?
(fwiw I've owned a 3714 and 3716 but never one of these big 7-days, and my current ride is a Mk7 GTI)

That was launched around the time I graduated from university.  As it turned out two friends, on opposite sides of the Atlantic, ended up owning versions of the Mk4.  In the US my buddy owned the 20th anniversary GTI.  In Europe, it was the R32 which he bought used in the late 2000s. 

I ran with one on the highway the other day, it was great! (Obviously I let him win)

was my first obsession and the first watch I purchased new. All other watches prior I bought pre-owned. This brings me back. Here was my pride and joy collection several years back 😀.

I have an Omega SMP diver but have always liked that IWC and the Panerais.

Only one Panerai now 😂. Most Risti would claim I don’t have a real Panerai as it’s only 42mm.
