Personally, I think its a beauty - I love the bezel and the dial as well, however, my economy limits me in this case as in many others - I will have to continue to enjoy this magnificent piece of history only in images and historybooks.

As for the bezel diameter, 60 mm, I find it large (without having tried it on), however, thats the whole point of this particular piece, right?

My point exactly, frankly at 60mm i thought it was a little small!

Why not make it 77mm!

If I owned a 127, a Cali, or a 21 / 232, I would have considered it, as well as the Mare, to close a collection of Historical pieces...

In he contrary, nooo way ... Too big and really unwearable.

Panerai, make it in 47 mm and I'm your man!

I just can't pull that off on my wrist. As a desk clock tho, no problem.

60mm is just way too big for me as well.

Please don't consider this as casting any doubt on those Egizianos, but I have to ask: have they been refinished? I am amazed at the pristine condition of the cases. Did Egizianos actually make it into combat use?

But really guys, this piece is a superb wonder, and i wonder why is it that if i can pull it off with my small asian wrist, that you European guys canT!

i look forward to seeing it on your wrist so that we can see if you can pull it off. i seriously doubt it, but thats just my opinion.

i have large wrists and i know i'd look stupid wearing it. i also know that most people would look at me and think 'who's that idiot wearing the stupidly large watch, what does he think he looks like?'

sometimes people can be too polite and wont say what they really think. i'm sure the staff at your AD will say it looks great on you because they are earning money when you buy it. i'm sure your friends will say it looks great as they are polite and dont want to upset you, but what do they really think?

we'll have to wait and see.

You are brutally honest but I agree with you.  My wrist is over 7 inches and frankly my largest watch is 44.5 mm which is a Big Bang.  It looks good on my wrist but I think I am at the limit.  My personal opinion is that 40-44mm looks best to me and others on that size wrist.

I would discourage this purchase.
