Which 8 days pam do you prefer?

190 with JLC movement or the new 346 with an in-house movement?

Well, let's not speak about the movements, but about the dial, which is to me the most important thing when it comes to Panerai:

The Date kills which would have been, once again, IN MY OPINION AND PERSONAL TASTE ( what a prudent disclaimer! ), a very interesting dial, without it...

The date is like a hole on this dial...

As always: " The Simpler, the Better.".

I also do not like date window and date in general for Panerai watches.

i have not seen the 346 in the flesh but both seem striking

If the PAM346 came in a steel version (instead of the current titanium) with the same combo or even black dial w/ gold hands, then definitely the PAM346 hands down for me.

however I'm having problems tracking one down in mint condition....I'm in no rush thankfully..!!

The 346 could have been almost a perfect replacement if it wasn't for the date window, the different case matrial and thickness wasn't really a problem and differentiated it from the 190.

i would go with the 190 as there is no date!

At least until I see it in the metal, as many has stated I'm not so sure about the date & loupe

But 323 over both as it has a 47mm case and a non-loupe date, only thing which bothers me about the watch is the sub-dial above 6 o'clock

Of all the new releases from Panerai at SIHH which is "obtainable" this one is high on my list

Until we can live with the 346 for a while, I give my vote to the 190. The 346 must be given a chance though.  Here's how it breaks down for me:

Case - 246
Dial - 190
Movement - toss up
Wearability - tbd

It is one of the best Pams ever made, IMHO.

For a few reasons: I actually very much prefer having the date at 3 o'clock. As someone else mentioned, it gives the dial balance, and it is useful to me. I also prefer the titanium case, nice tobacco dial and I like that the movement is from Panerai. Of course, I love the 190 too and JLC's 8 day is a great caliber in its own right. But the 346 is all Panerai. I would prefer that the "8 days" writing not appear on either piece, however.

Though the 190 is certainly beautiful, the Ti case and brown dial appeal to me a bit more.

the date, in my personal opinion, doesn't belong on this watch. I'm seeing more and more recent models with dates and eventually I'll get used to it but not on that watch.
