Hi all
Thanks for such a warm welcome. I am so drawn to Panerai, I just love the simplicity of the dial and yet I am already longing for another one.
Well, after having been ejoying my PAM219 every day for about a month, with already another OEM calf Vintage strap..!!! Gotta tell you. I ever once questioned about the accuracy differences between OP X and OP XI movements, but now, i think the only reason OP XI got the C.O.S.C. is because it has the small second... Or else I could be wrong. My PAM219 proves Its accuracy to be excellent!! it hasn't missed a beat. I tested by setting the time with the digital clock in my car dashboard so that I could check its accuracy every morning while driving to and back from work. PAM219 nailed it every time... The power reserved is also very accurate. I found that it lasted almost 58 hours after fully wound.
And today, my contact at the local AD called to let me know that he is having a new PAM183 L series available..(passing through all those waiting list) which by the way, the production for 'L' series is limited to only 600 peices.. From what I have discovered from the net.. PAM183 production number for each series has been about 1,500 for serveral years consecutively. Surprised me at first but guess they have been pretty busy making those New in-house movement P.900x series.. and yet.. the rumors that has been flying around about the new P.999 newest which is planning to be released during SIHH2010, they have less time making based movement PAM.
Well, I have always had my eyes on Radiomir Panerai and PAM183 was the true beauty.. Hadn't I already got the base PAM219 about a month ago, I would have had hard time deciding between PAM210 and PAM183. Guess I'd go in and check it out for myself and see if I should wait a little longer and enjoying my PAM219 or I should grab another one while it lasted.
what do you guy think?
you will have no regrets at all, after SIHH 2010 novelties.
My 2c.
Cheers,
Patrickh
is to buy another Panerai :P
But seriously, if you really like the PAM183, go ahead and get it. The PAM183 is a regular production model produced every year, so I wouldn't pay much attention to only 600 pieces made in the L series.
If you don't need a seconds hand, then get the PAM210 since that is the base.
However, I would suggest the PAM183 since your PAM219 is a destro base and doesn't have a seconds hand.
Cheers,
Anthony
Thanks Anthony.. and of course Patrick
Right on.. PAM183 is in regular production.. as same as PAM210.... I'll just keep teasting my PAM itches a little longer and see what's coming up next at the SIHH2010. But I'll go in the local AD anyway and have my confrontation face to face with the real PAM183.. why not...
Just not sure if i'll be able to resist the temptation.
around that much!
alepos
Thanks alepos and Gazoz..
Yeah, I really like this 219 very much... but just when I put my thought into it.. sometimes, I thought about getting PAM210 first and then maybe a LUMINOR ..
Anyway, I went to the AD that night to see the 183 face to face.. and wow.. it's a very beautiful.. I knew I have to have another PAM and that's gotta be in RAD case... I really don’t' mind the 183, but the reason I told myself to hold off a bit is I need more time to enjoy this baby..
I have yet to get a couple of gold calf skin straps.. and dark brown gator straps with white stitch to dress up.. and dress down.. some..
I am switching to OEM rubber straps over the weekend for the cool of it..
