Hello Panerai lovers,
This is my first post on this forum. I have been visiting the PP-site for a while now and I am reading the posts with great pleasure. Now it’s finally time for a post.
Last year I bought my first ‘real’ watch, the PAM 164. I live in the Netherlands but bought the watch in Belgium. The watch wasn’t available (on short notice) at AD’s in The Netherlands. After a phone call to Antwerp the AD told me that they had a 164 in back order. They phoned the distributor and called me back with good news: the watch was already on his way and would arrive within a week. When I saw it in the flesh I immediately fell in love and bought it.
Since the 164 arrived the Panerai virus has hit me. I started to read the available Panerai Books and I am frequently visiting the different PAM forums. After seeing the SIHH 2009 line-up the new 312 attracted my attention. I like it because I like a (basic) Sandwich Dail, 1950 case and a Manifattura movement. I ordered the watch (again in Antwerp). Within 4-8 weeks I hope to receive a phone call from the AD.
Below some pics of the 164, with OEM Gator and OEM Riva. I bought the Riva in the boutique in Florence.

Thanks for reading!
Ciao
Pierre

Hello Pierre,
Congrats with your watch and the beautiful straps. I have been a fan of both the 111 and the 164 for a long time, but like you the new 312 has now really caught my attention. When you can get the black sandwich dial, the Luminor 1950 case, the exhibition caseback, an automatic in-house movement and the brushed case and polished bezel, in one watch, what else can you demand?
As I am living in Norway with no Panerai AD, I have a couple of questions to you:
When you ordered your 312, did you get the impression that the model was hard to get?
When you bought your 164 in another country than your own, did you get the VAT refunded when you got back to Belgium?
The reason I ask is that I have a house in Spain, and intend to visit the Panerai dealer in Alicante. If he doesn't have it in stock, I can possibly order it and buy it on my next visit.
Best regards/wishes from
Erik
