Well, you only miss the 82, and you will have all the MMs of the modern Era,.

The funny thing is that I also considered this thematic, as I owned the 202/A, the 36, the 217, and the 82, but I began to have in minds a Vintage MM...

Ouch!

The 6152-1 with Angelus would be a great addition. And hopefully one day, I'll find one with plenty of providence and the Marina Militare on the dial.

If only I could borrow a PAM 82.... then the photo would be complete. Not that the 82 isn't a great watch, it's just that I've got others way ahead of that on my list.

How many MM's are there? Is it 4? Why is this text only so frequently used?

The Marina Militare is the Italian Navy.

It is my understanding that most if not all of the 202/A's were issued to Marina Militare officers and only become available when a officer or his family decide to sell it.

All of the other MM watches are produced with the approval/permission of the Marina Militare. So they all are special editions and are done infrequently.

I hope this helps. Please, if any of the Panerai experts has anything to add, please do.

All the 202/A didn't come to the MM, as some VIP got a few ,as well as some important people at Panerai.

Therefore, the only one which wasn't made with the permission and approval of the MM was the Pam 217.

The Marina Militare did receive 100 of the 140 202/A's produced, but not officers only. There are other pieces that were delivered to some famous Navy VIPs and to some ex-Panerai people. Eventually most of them found their way to the market but some military active service divers still have theirs. The official watch of the MM and the Comsubin has changed over the years and, of course, is no longer made by Panerai.

There was a story behind the MM PAM 217 that Panerai 'forgot' to get approval from the MM, but don't know if there is any truth behind it

The 5218-202/A approximately 140 made - Non Matching (as pictiured) and Matching (yellow patina) Tritium Dial - Pre Vendome (OP SpA)

140 202/ A were made, and 10 prototypes.

200 Pam 36 were made.

My guess would be around 30 / 40 non matching 202/A.

The first looks like the 36 and the last is just what I like in PAM pics... Dark, murky.... like what the Frogmen really saw on missions at night.
