Hi Guys

Was wondering if hand winding an automatic panerai is possible? and is it a good idea to?

When i first got my 104 i remember the AD told me she was going to hand wind the watch because it was BNIB.

She also mentioned that if I wind it to far i could break the mechanism? Does anyone know how to correctly wind a auto PAM?

Give it 30 gears, and it will be ok...

so your AD was wrong about that, but if you wind it constantly you just increase the wear of the mechanism (but this is theoretical and not substantial). The mainspring of an automatic watch is not attached firmly by a hook but by a bridle that is held in place by pure tension.

You cannot overwind because as Asi has explained it above, there's an overwind protection system in place.  I personally manually wind my watch everyday even if automatic since it's become personal habit.  Lets me bond with my watch
