Here is the story...The PreV bugg is calling me since I have no PreV PVD in my (modest) collection...After having seen Dirks, Vanni's and Marc's 203A at PDay I just can't stop thinking about this one..I know I should be happy with the ones I have but this terrible desease called Panerai-bug has hit me hard again..For some reason the thrill of the search and the hunt for the perfect piece is making me crazy.....So the 203A...I want it...but at what price? I need to let go 2 of my pieces to fund this and I must hold on to my personal panerai-math table: vintage> PreV >PreA > A-series. I have no A-series watches so next in line are the PreA's...My pride and joy...Luckily I have both the preA4 and and the PreA9. I say luckily because just one will not fund this mayor purchase.......A dear UK risti amigo warned me about my addiction for PreV..I quote: Nahhh guillermo, you won't keep the PreA...you are the PreV man...Hope he is not reading this hahaha....

So...Bottomline...Should I go for it?

You are approaching the big step, getting to the real PANERAI. Although the PreA4 and 9 are amazing piece, you should still go for the 203A because your heart keeps calling for it and the PreA will not satisfy you over the PreV.

Seriously, Guillermo, You already have 3 Pre V pieces, but not PVD.

With the 203/A, you end your Panerai Collection in the nicest way.

You will get the nicest Pre V!

Ok, the Pre A have a very nice dial ,and there are some who would kill to get those ( actually a chance for you, if you want to fund a Pre V PVD..), but there is a writing just under 6...t-swiss-t, while the Pre V doesn't have any writing...

Purity!!!

You would also go at the end of the way, not half the way, too, which is important for a Pre V Fan like you.

The only think you'll be able to do after is to complete, if you feel the need, with the MM, but not necessary!

So, for all these reasons, my friend, go, JUMP!

As someone who has neither..I'm probably the last person who should be giving advice.  However, the pre-V pieces are really what the 'modern' Panerai is about.  The 1, 4, 9 etc are all derivitives of those Pre-V pieces.  You can talk all you want about how pre-A cases are actually pre-V just with newer dials, but it's still not a true pre-V.

Obviously, cost is an issue when you're comparing pre-V and pre-A, but if you can afford it, and your purpose is to 'complete' your collection, you MUST have a pre-V, as far as I'm concerned.


Now...having said that...can i buy your pre-A's.....???  hahahahahaaaaaa

That's not the question...Some have preference for the 202A and others for the 203...Personally I would settle for either one but...the price difference between these 2 also is a factor of consideration...I like the fat numbers and not all 202A's come with those (especially the non matching ones lack thee fat numerals)...Decision is tough..and if I decide to go for it..I'll have to let both go......Bummer!!!!!
