Hi all,

I am looking into purchasing a 233, the one I access to appears to be an I series (1500 production number on back), is there any difference between the I series and J series other than production size. I read the I series has 1,500 (first production year) and the J series has 1,000. Before I make the purchase I just want to make sue that I am not missing anything going with the I series over the J.

The new strap changing system made its debut on the 233 (i) , before be rolled out to the contemporary Luminors.    

Thanks....I figured as such...just wanted to confirm before dropping the $$$

...I feel that the front glass shows a little less distortions compared to the I series. But I am not sure whether this is based on facts or just my impression.

My first 233 was a "i" series and it suffered from issues with the Power Reserve indicator.

In actual fact, mine came broked out of the box. It was stuck at 100% and wouldn't budge.

I sent it into PASC and it came back with other issues. Finally I had it replaced by my AD for a J series one which has been fine.

I also ran into some many other PAM233 owners that had "i" series and they seemed to suffer from the opposite problem, which is that the PR gets stuck on the way down at 1 day or generalized PR sticking issues.

The watch case seems to me to be identical but there are some other subtle differences in the package.

I noticed that the "i" series has a metal strap change tool and the "j" series, Panerai switched over to a plastic one.
