it is really appealing to the history of the brand with the solid caseback and the logo on the dial. Of course from the aesthetics and clean design point, the 111 may have an advantage with an upside of the sandwich dial and the nicely finished movement.

Well, Simon, it depends on what you want to do
As I think that the 190 is one of the 4 nicest Rads, I think that if you just want one, don't waste your time with hte 5, just go on a tritium dial...
Onr day or another, I know you, you will be rid of your 5 and you will want to explore a more " Soul " Panerai...
So go directly on a Pam 1 A or some few "B" which have this famous Tritium dial...
OR, go on a Luminor with a Brown dial, like the lefty Pam 56 or the normal Pam 61...
The Logo belongs to pre vendome, a Pam 5 is so so...

It is a good piece to start with..
And it is just the beginning of the Panerai chase.. Lol..
Some may say it looks `busy` with the OP logo printed on it, but this is what makes it unique..
A Zero is also a good entry choice,, imho..

It sure does.
but if you want something that match your 190...I would suggest you to take a look at some A-series pieces, or some B-series such as the 36, or if you love the submersible line..there are so many interesting pieces to look at such as the 64 or 239.
