It is not the platinum unfortunately.  The SS ones are hard to find and in my search I never saw a platinum for sale.  I got luck on this one.  It is an 'I' series (so the last of the run) and was delivered to a dealer in December 2007.  I was doing daily calls to everyone I could and got lucky eventually.

The 190 is, IMHO, one of the nicest and more "horological"  modern Panerai watches!

It was about a week after seeing your 190 in Paris that I got to hear about this one, and I had been searching for quite a while.  It is great on the wrist as you say, and the simplicity of the dial that masks the superlative JLC 8-day movment is a joy to stare at for long period of time.

A quick question as I know you have a 190.  I wound it up and the marker on the back got to the '8'.  However, I found I could still wind the watch.  I stopped after four or five more turns, but wanted to ask how much farther you can go before you cannot wind the crown any further?  I presume it eventually gets to a point of resistance wherein you cannot wind any further, although that point seems to be beyond where the hand gets to the '8' mark.

You can wind it all night long it won't stop and won't damage the watch...

You will only feel that when the watch is totally wound, the winding won't be as smooth...

So you can stop when you see the hand on the "8"...

Congrats Simon. The 190 is a beatiful watch and the movement is pretty awesome too!

The 190 was my first Pam.

I have always liked the Radiomir design and, being a JLC fan, having the 8-day movement in there is icing on the cake

Congratulations on your new 190. The watch is so gorgeouse especially the JLC-movement with display back. I love my 190 as well.

May I also ask, did you get this 190 as the BNIB from the AD? I ask this because my friend used to ask me whether he could find the new 190 from the AD.

This 190 was not BNIB from an AD. I tried every AD on the UK list and some elsewhere in the world and they all said 'no chance' when asked about the chances of them getting a new 190. Some had not seen one for over a year. This 190 was from a UK dealer that has many Panerai for sale, and it was unworn with all the tags and stickers on the watch and strap and all three boxes. I would be happy to send you a PM with their details if it might help your friend.

just bought my 190 today! got it as a 2nd hand how do u tell which series my watch is?

and i want to ask, is there a COSC cert or screw driver included in the set? what constitutes a "Complete set"?
