Officine Panerai

Dear Panerai enthousiasts. I'm about the buy my first Panerai and hesitate between these two models. The Pam 505 or the Pam 643. As I understand correctly the Pam 505 has a Panerai developed movement and the Pam 643 hasn't. Do both have the same scratch resitancy ?

Any input is HIGHLY appreciated.

looks like you are shopping for a black radiomir piece...

may I suggest you go with a time tested PAM 292?  sandwich dial with ceramic case and robust ETA movement?

I know its been discontinued but I think you can find new ones somewhere...just my two cents..

between the two you posted..I go ceramic over composite...

the dial on the 643 is nice but the 505 is different the brown compsite case and brown dial are just stunning.  It is a very light weight case and the P9000 movement runs very good and has given no problems. It is a very stealthy and versatile watch that really goes with a lot.  I have yet to get a scratch on my 505 so my 2 cents is for the 505.  Here is mine saying hello! 

Bought PAM 505 last year and love it. As there are too many black DLC quoted watch with many brands so went for slightly different composite watch and nice movement. Overall brownish colour & coating is nice match with lighter weight. At the end listen to yourself what you like go for that.

Why bother buying a Panerai, renown for it's..quintessential, military semplicity..if all you want is a..run of the mill..watch the like of PP,VC, JLC, IWC? That's why, between the 2, I would choose the 643. The composite material can be scratched and the ceramic, though scratch resistant to a greater extent, can....brake...in case of a severe fall or particularly hard knock. Ciao

Thanks, I love the watch. I'm indeed looking for a nice Luminor now, difficult again, undecessive between the Pam 560 or Pam 562........stainless steel vss titanium......
