Glashütte Original

Hello all,

My name is Ali, and I am from Kuwait. I have been a long time reader of this website, but never mad a contribution before.
I have always been fascinated by the mechanical wonder of the horology world. I am new to this, started collecting watches just three years ago.
since this forum is for Glashutte only, I will post my latest addition. The Senator sixties Blue no date.

P.S. I never used forums before, I hope I posted in the right way :P

 

 

In my opinion the Best Horological Forum made by the Best and Nicest People.

What a great watch your are showing, amazingly, just this last Saturday, I tried one on and exactly the same as the one you are wearing, the details are fantastic. The shape of the back sapphire, the movement, the dial! It exudes sobriety, which seems contradictory but this watch is almost a contradiction, in that it is perfectly finished and yet has a nomadic aura, it is precisely designed and constructed, yet is full of poesy. I have loved this watch from the first day I saw it in picture, perhaps 5 or 6 years ago but never had I the chance to try it on. This Saturday I did and I loved it. I also had the chance to try and really appreciate the Panograph, what an interesting watch! In my opinion and especially after this past Saturday, it seems like Glashutte Original is a "forgotten" brand.....well, not for me anymore. For the past 2 days I have been thinking about Dr No's PC Karree

Here you go. The SevenFriday looks odd there. But hey, I'm 26 and still allowed to have huge watches:p

you have a wonderful and very tasteful collection..it would have been quiet a loss not seeing it together....each one of your pieces appears to be selected after deliberation and personal interest...variety is the spice of life, so it is wonderful diversoty too

. . . 44 GS also resides in my collection.  Quite similar to the Sixties, at least on paper . . . 

aaah the GS44. my current favorite watch. not available in my region, I bought it used from an English man, after 3 months of search. my current obsession is the Grand Seiko, possibly the best dials in business, and they are truly for the purist. the GS on my short list is their GMT same as the one SJX got. and one very hard to find GS Hi-Beat Ginza Wako edition SBGH007, limited to 30 pieces only.

... and both, your watch and your pictures are worthy to celebrate this "first"! The "Sixties" is a story of success for GO, and a very unique watch. Your version is the cleanest one, with its striking blue dial nearly flashy, but only "nearly". Thanks for showing it!

. . . glad you joined in with your one Glashütte, which happens to be one of my favorites in the current collection.  For those who haven't seen it in person, the latest Sixties is well worth the trip to an authorized dealer even if you're not actively shopping for a watch.  G O nailed this one perfectly - I love it.

its a fantastic watch.
funny story how I got mine. I am familiar with the Sixties, but only thought it was available with the panoramic date widow and a rather large 42mm (I guess?) case, so I dismissed it. but last week I saw a picture of it floating on Instagram without a date window, and at 39mm with this beautiful blue face. It was an instant buy, went to the A.D. the next day and got it on the spot. I guess its not a spontaneous call after all, it met all my criteria ( three hands, time only, less than 40mm, and in-house made).

. . .  are more difficult to implement than one might imagine.  I count on G O getting it right far more often than not; in this case, they nailed it perfectly.

I love the blue dial.  I've had the opportunity to try on both the date and non-date models.  I wouldn't mind having either one in my collection.  Both watches are simple and versatile.  You can wear it with a suit or with jeans.
