Senator Meissen has been my all time favor since I purchased soon after it became available. Although I made a very early order, I failed to secure a single digit series number due to worldwide strong demand at that time. But it doesnt reduce my enjoyment at all. This watch has occupied my wrist much longer than any other in my collection.

Last week, I went to Beijing for a biz trip with Senator Meissen on my wrist again. As usual, it attracted some one's attention. As usual again, I was requested to order one piece for him. Ok, I did. I picked up the phone and called my AD in Hong Kong and specifically asked if he could find one piece with a special number to please my friend in Beijing. In less than an hour, my  AD called back and said "YES".

Haha, here you are. Witout the permission of my friend, I would like to present your guys a Senator Meission with a series number of 888:

 

As I dont believe GO will produce a few thousand pieces of Senator Meissen, this number of 888 supposes to be the ultimate lucky number for this series.

I fully agree that the Senator Meissen is one of the - if not the - most beautiful G.O. watches ever made.

As for the serial number, although it does not have the same meaning here in Europe, I understand that it means a lot of luck in Chinese culture. (Does this apply to other countries in Eastern Asia also?)
So my best congratulations for this luckiest of all catches. May your friend wear it in best health. And the same I wish to you with yours.

Hong Kong and Guangdong as its pronunciation is similar to that of "prosperity" in Cantonese. Now it becomes popular in mainland China and all Chinese communities around the world (not sure about Japan and Korea, I should ask about it in the future). It is just a "nice-to-have" thing, although there are some people wiling to pay extra for a lucky number.

My Senator Meissen only has a plain number but I do wear it with a good health, haha.

We also don't believe (and we hope)  that they will not produce several thousands of Senator Meissen.
So, no. 888 is really great.

You know what, "4" is a very unlucky number in Hong Kong as its pronunciation is almost the same as that of "dead".  My apartment is on the 4th floor and the building number happens to be 14. But I have been pretty happy, healthy, and lucky since i moved in.

So enjoy your Senator Meissen and believe it will bring many good lucks to you.

Hunting for a good number can sometimes enhance the joy but mostly ends up with disappointment. I have tried a few times, but always failed. Instead, good numbers sometimes jump out from nowhere, such as this 888. Any way, it is a fun stuff.

I too pay a lot of attention to the serial number. if I had the luck to get a watch with such lucky number, I would even buy the watch I only barely like.
