. . . .  both currently in your collection, and those that have departed . . . pictures would be nice, too.  I have five to report:
a cal 39 Karree chrono (2001) and Senator up-and-down (2001), both departed, and three perpetuals currently in the collection - two Karrees in steel and a Senator LE in gold.

 

This is the first in a series of inquiries . . . future purchases will be approached at another time . . . what I'm looking for in this instance is the sample of G O's that Purists already have or had.  Cordially, Art

Been out of circulation here for some time now but back

Am also negotiating [could well be WAS] to buy another c49, Perpetual Calender but have been and still is uncomfortable and unhappy with GO Service here in Hong Kong. This could well stop and prevent me from being a GO Collector

. . .  in that there seems to be a focus, if not a theme, to your collection.  Three elegant and refined cal 49s - date, power reserve, and Wempe LE chronograph - augmented by a rarely seen cal 39 Senator with a dressy flair, topped off by a rugged cal 39 Senator Navigator.  Cordially, Art  

is on the c49 variations made......well perhaps not all of them but at least the important ones IMHO.
I am close to getting the c49 Perpetual Cal though and of course the c49 Regulator which together with the c39 Nav Perpetual [the perfect watch in many ways] have been eluding me.

If only GO Germany would seriously focus on improving their Customer Service and GO Servicing Depts here in Hong Kong at least and wider ASIA I hear.
This is a real barrier for me as GO makes some of the best watches in the World ...period.........but After Sales Service because of this state of being is equally as important as the Engineering Excellence that GO is without question amongst the very best in the World IMHO.

May I ask that you also share with us the rest of your GO Collection? Nice the Karrees are.... I was close to having 2 no but ........
The Karree c42 is of course the close cousin of the c49s

Yes in many ways the c39 Nav Perpetual is the perfect watch IMHO......and of course the technical mastery that the PanoRetroGraph represents in many ways....

it is underrated, I know; but unjustifiedly so. IN my opinion one of the cleanest, but due to the different surface treatments, most interesting dials offered by GO.

. . . has a quiet charm all it's own . . . I suspect the Panodate appeals to the less obsessive amongst us, and I'd hazard a guess that they remain in their respective collections for the long-haul.  I especially like the Panodate on a bracelet . . . it's one of the few watches in the line, along with the Panograph, that I feel are more suited for a bracelet than a strap.  Cordially, Art

And I initially wanted the bracelet also, but when examining it in person and on my hand I liked the strap more (Just a bit more).

You are right about it staying for long in my collection, actually, I don't understand people who trade or sell watches (unless because of financial issues), everything that I buy is intended to being kept forever.

Every day when it's sunset I go out from the office to take a look at the dial... I like it the most when it's sunset or a cloudy day, it just looks different in different light conditions, can't really explain, another thing I like to do is look at the watch normally when I'm standing (looking down to my hand), and then lift my hand until the hand is above my head and the dial don't have direct light on it, the inner circle around the time display changes with the angle until it disappears when the watch is all the way up...

My pictures can not deliver all this and don't do justice with the watch.

Fell in love with this the first time I held it in my hands.

. . . and, in my opinion, one of the most underestimated movements of recent times.  The double swan's neck regulators juxtaposed on either side of the balance in a manual wind movement lends an effect that I find compelling, very much like that of a high-grade pocket watch movement.  I wonder why the cal 65 hasn't been further developed . . . I would like to see a chronometer version without the date display, and perhaps with a torque indicator in it's place to complement the power-reserve display, allowing the owner to dial in optimal timing performance.  Cordially, Art

. . . perhaps "flag-bearer" would be more appropriate . . . jeez, the platinum LE Senator alone qualifies you as a fan.  For those of you that haven't had the pleasure of strapping on that model, it's mass and weight create most of the effect of a nominally larger design without the attention the larger watches tend to draw.  Cordially, Art

... I had # 108, but sold it some years ago. Sometimes, my inner self tries to convince me that massive sports watches would look good on me, then I buy one. But I always end selling them again. After the dreadnought, it was the IWC GST Aquatimer 2000 (which, btw, would be a nice addition to your collection!), which I also sold, and traded it for a  Speedmaster Moonphase. This one is sportive enough for me.

About the Dreadnought, yes I still have it and it´s a odd watch in my opinion. There
was a hype when everyone wants one and where ready to pay the retailprice more
than wice. But I believe it´s a little slower a day like this. I keep my one so long I like
it.

I really like the GO perpetuals.  The easiest to read of any perpetual calendar.

. . .  purist perpetual dial layout of all . . . I like the Roth and de Bethune perpetuals as well, but it's hard to beat G O for pure functionality and value.  Btw, Purists, the photo of Ray's rose gold Navigator perpetual, now departed from his collection, should stand in as a model for Jack's identical watch.  Most cordially, Art
