They don't come with manual how to eat them. But my friend put it in a boiling water and mix it with tea. I didn't try and don't want to try 
how big...
How big were the ants? I'd imagine them being pretty big and surprised they didn't attack you as you got so close to the hive tower. Crab looks delicious! We ate a lot of different varieties when I was in Asia, will post pics.
