TimeOut

the thing is...

 By: lien : February 4th, 2014-00:18
one can always choose how he/she want to live despite life's harshness and that there rn't much choices among triplets so i ll make do with twinssmile

cheers,
ed~

You are absolutely right...

 By: ThomasM : February 4th, 2014-03:01
Life is about choices. Too often society today seems to encourage irresponsibility and egocentrism - take credit for good, disavow responsibility for bad by blaming everyone / everything else - parents; adults; TV; the internet; voices in your head.

But compare this with 150 years ago, when even children were held accountable as adults and being poor was an offense punishable by...

And so the social pendulum swings...

Thanks for your comments, Ed! And for reading mine...

I wonder how many stopped after the picture? And how many DIDN'T open because of the thumbnail preview pic?

Cheers,

TM

Ps: twins...we have two pair on our team. What are the odds of THAT? smile

haha really?

 By: lien : February 4th, 2014-03:35
maybe there r some connection between twins and horological fascination?

i often think ppl who understand why appreciating timepieces r the ones who knows a bit about life to choose to struggling in each's own little pocket universesmile

cheers,
Ed~

One rule against vanity, and which illsutrates the virtues of humility.

As we are on that kind of thoughts, what about this one, which made me think a lot, I must confess...

Hmmmmm?

Compromise, compromises... Aren't not always that bad.

Nicolas

This thread is REALLY getting derailed! I think I've just proven my point in my reasoning about no price discussions: like sex, once it enters the discussion, everything else is lost or forgotten.

smile

And...

Momma mia!!!!

smile

Brilliant, and brilliantly cheeky. Hard to believe it came from British (and Aston Martin) but it could only have come from Brits...

smile

Sex??? Where do you see sex? I see philosophy, art, design, beauty... :))))

 By: amanico : February 4th, 2014-05:23

Sorry, but I just couldn't resist.

I had to!

You know, " it doesn't really matter you're not the first "... smile   smile  smile

To be used in some of our answers.

Will you forgive me?

"Life is about choices."

 By: small-luxury-world : February 12th, 2014-02:14
Absolutely, but quite often we forget that it is us who have to take the decision to choose.

Viktor E. Frankl comes to my mind - the founder of logotherapy and the author of Nevertheless, they YES to life. One of my all time favorite books.

Anyway, nice picture smile

Oliver

Interesting point...I'll have to look up that book...

 By: ThomasM : February 15th, 2014-01:01
And yes.

smile

Oliver, I had to think the same!

 By: Anatol : February 15th, 2014-02:07

We seem to come from the same cultural back ground. Victor Frankl made a lasting impression on me in my youth when we read the book at high school.

In the end: what ever happens to you, if you have a purpose, then you have a reason and a means to overcome.

Today, we often forget about the freedom of will. We cry for social welfare to help the less advantaged, denying that people can break out of their environment if they really want to.

We have a choice, every day. But making choices is often uncomfortable and irritating to others. But without making choices we will change nothing.

less words, more pictures

Honestly, when I saw ThomasM is the author, I was very curious.

 By: ling5hk : February 6th, 2014-00:57

The urge to read the post does not come from the photo alone.  It is the combination factor of the photo and the author.

I thought Thomas has found new love.

Now in regards to the text portion of your post, I really don't have any comment.  Everyone is different no matter if they come from the same environment.
