I know DRMW will be interested in some pics with the new toy....I'm not assuming these are particularly good pics, but they are all far better quality than I ever had before and show some tricky situations where my point and shoot just wouldn't do like shooting into sunlight or very high contrast and also portrait shots with a nice blured background.

I have lots to learn and this little camera has blown my mind with what it can do...even some shots taken in a dark room with the lights off have come out crystal clear...the Atmos at the end was in the dark..!!!

 

Like I say I have a lot to learn but I am having lots of fun trying at the moment   The 22mm lens is out soon which I will get and it will then literally fit in a pocket but is the quality of an SLR...in fact this is a pocket size 650D..!!

I'm considering a dslr as the lx3 is brilliant for macro but not a lot of good for scenery due to its very wide angle lense.
My daughter has an old 5mp one i might borrow. I think its a nikon d50.

I used to be really good at photography and even learnt to use a dark room, but my long term memory is shot and these new fangled devices confuse me.

I need the adapter to justify the acquisition.

The fact is that I did a very minor upgrade for my walk around camera (S90 to S100) and I'm amazed by the quality of the pics.

Canon is making great cameras those days.

I'm wondering how great the pics will be using a EOS M with a L class lens.

and lack of manual controls are my biggest bearbug with the EOS-M. My dad has a sizeable collection of L and legacy canon lenses which I would like to capitalzie on.

When testing it, I was greatly put off by the AF speed, which I need for street photography. If u have used a fujifilm X-series, you know what I mean.

However, I was told by a canon insider that they are working on a firmware update that will change this.  

Having said that, and as Andy has eluded to, its really a pocketable 650D, with equally stunning results.

Unless of course u plan to do this ....

Like you say the AF isn't the fastest but not an issue for me and if a firmwear update sorts it then even better. I'm very impressed with the pic quality and fingers crossed my pics will improve in time...London this weekend for more practice but they'll be pics of our lovable G..!! LOL

And it sounds like you've read the manual, something I often forget to do.

There is a small starter guide which is 100 pages which comes with it....but the full manual is over 400 pages which comes on disk which I haven't read yet..!!

Does more than I knew..!
