I trust that you all enjoyed the weekend!

I just got back from a recent business trip, which took me to my old home of Japan, where naturally i would go searching for my favourite Blue car models.

Boy, did i make a Super catch this time round!

I'd like to share with you all both of the models, but 1st we start with the one that is the more common one.

Presenting, the Toyota 86 in Galaxy Blue Silica!

FINALLY! THis guy's out!

And now, here's the one that is REALLY rare, because of the fact that in reality, this car exists only in Red, and since it's a one-off ( the real car i mean), that means that this model helps me to visualise how the same car would look like if I was the one purchasing it, and had the power to tell Lamborghini to paint it so. Thus, in reality though this model in this colour does NOT exist, this is a very good physical representation of how it would actually be. I think our friend Luc would be loving this very much!

In this model, those seats are made of Plastic, in reality, they are probably the biggest forged carbon objects in the world. I wonder how many AP ROO cases can be crafted out of those 2 seats?

As if you have not yet have enough of Carbon Fibre goodness, more for you all over the dash!

I hope you are still enjoying your new toy cars in blue!

In the city in Germany where I live there is celebrated a so-called "Blaue Nacht"  each year in May. Obviously the ancient city center is illuminated with blue lights which gives a special athmosphere to it and a great variety of cultural events are offered. Next date will be May, 4th 2013.

If you happen to be in my part of the world, have a look at it !

Unfortunately was limited only to Helsinki, and not into the "real" Lapland as i understand the definition of it.

That sounds beautiful, and would definitely be a once in a lifetime experience for me, should i ever be fortunate to go there again!

As a matter of fact, i do have the blue Aventador Jota as i have all the Look Smart and MR models, I am a fan ( and friend) of Egidio Reali' s miniatures. As I do not have any more time to go shopping , he is kind enough to send me all his novelties.

Yes you have mentioned to me before about your relationship with MR, and lucky you indeed! I wish i could have all too, but they are indeed not exactly cheap.

Btw, would you happen to know if ALL MR models are Made in Italy? I think some in their line is Made in China? Like the ones that are Made in Italy have the writing on the main name plate, while those lacking are not? e.g. The Aventador J?

I sure do hope one day then to see a concept, or one off product that chooses Blu Hera, or an even darker blue as it's bodypaint!

Bentley historic models.
The MR and Looksmart models are made from the same tooling. Only difference is that the looksmart are produced in China due to the greater volumes ( still limited) but also to make them more affordable. The MR are produced in italy and depending on the model also sport more details, more photo edged parts and opening parts, they are more exclusive and have great elements like miniaturised gas struts for the bonnets.
But independently from where they are produced they all have something unique: they are not mathematically scaled down from the full size but the forms are adapted to the scale in order to have the same emotional impact.
Anyone working with miniatures knows that you cant scale and be faithful esthetically to the master.
Egidio is a maestro in that perspective.

I would also like to see a showcar in dark blue but unfortunately journalists and photographers complain that you cant sell a magazine with a dark colored car in the cover as it does not attract the buyer in the newsstand therfore those "prostituting" reds oranges etc...

That was the reason why we changed the jota to red....

I definitely did not know that about the models not being simple scaled down. I had always thought they would be more real that way.

Indeed the MR Models are so much better, but as you said not exactly healthy for the wallet, therefore i am limited to buy only usually models that reflects what i would want in a car in real life. The Colour does play a huge role in my decision though! ( As you can see i probably only have Midnight Blue cars!) Thus reflecting what my garage would look like if i had that sorta cash in reality

Hah, they are so wrong those journalists! On the other hand i hardly would buy a car magazine if the car on it is as you put it, "prostitutingly" red , orange. Put a blue car, especially the right shade and you see me grab that issue! I was very happy when ( I think it was Cars) used a Dark blue metallic Porsche 911 ( the current new one) for their road test.

Well, as they say in this world, Majority wins, so im definitely in the minority.

Cool addition to the collection Stephen.  Have you ever gotten into building your won model cars?  Way back when, companies like Revell had aiplanes, heli's, and of course cars.  It was always fun building and painting it yourself.  Some were glue together and others were snap on.

Well, i did try myself with Gundams back then, but that's probably as far as i went!

Im not that good with my hands, so i often just marvel at the shops, but when it comes to actual purchase, i think i'll leave it to the pros
