Inspired by Bruno's thread about women's handbags, I thought I'd start one about haute jewellry.

As we do have a few fellow lady Purists with impeccable taste on this forum, I'm hoping to get some opinions in this topic

For those knowledgeable gentlemen that have experience and interest in this area (just like you have knowledge in women's handbags, you're more than welcome to chime in!

I wonder what are your views on the various high end jewellers (Excluding jewelly watches!!!!)

We all know and rave about Tiffany, Bulgari, Cartier, and to a lesser extent, Van Cleef & Arpels, Harry Winston, Graff, etc. Then there's also Boucheron and Chaumet and some others. How would you rank these jewellers in your own heart? These kind of things have no right answers, so I just want to get a feel of what's people's opinion out there And perhaps some of us prefer vintage pieces for the history behind them.

Personally, my family's a fan of Bulgari and Van Cleef and our collection's predominantly from these 2, but Cartier is quite popular amongst our friend group.

As with shoes, watches, cars, etc it depends on your style.  Bulgari, Piaget, Tiffany, Cartier have very beautiful and iconic designs.  Personally I buy Leo Pizzo, Tacori, and Damiani for jewelry brands.  My AD carries Hearts and Arrows/HOF for loose diamonds if you want something created for you. Are you buying a gift for someone?

Good list of brands I haven't mentioned Aaron!

My fiance is a big fan of Chopard's Happy Diamonds collection.  There's something intriguing about the way the diamonds twirl and float in between the sapphire glass. 

What type of jewelry does your family like from the Bulgari collection?  Do they like the BULGARI-BULGARI logo?  Just curious.

... my mother have a few pieces from the Lucea and Cerchi collections.. they're quite interesting as both of these designs involve many different parts joined together so the structure is flexible.

My wife have a Cicladi necklace, which consist of a group of spinnable discs, and a pendant with coloured stones that rotates around the pendant which I'm not sure which collection it's from. That's the fun thing with Bulgari jewelry, a lot of them can be played around with.. just like how you mentioned about Chopard!

...but for haute joaillerie my favorites are Boucheron, and (not surprisingly) Piaget.  Piaget's high jewelry pieces are amazing.  Keep an eye out for my upcoming post featuring pictures from the new Limelight Garden Party collection on the Piaget forum.

Ditto for Chaumet and Boucheron. Some of their collections are really gorgeous, but we never have enough time to check them out when we're travelling overseas.

.. is indeed the most romantic of all jewellers... totally agree Damjan.

To be honest, we've only first seen Van Cleef pieces in real life 2 years ago, as there's no boutiques in Australia. First time we saw them, they are like poetry. Horribly expensive compared to the other brands though. For the price of their mother of peal necklace, could have gotten a simple diamond necklace from Bulgari or Cartier! :O

i will post a tie pin he just manufactured for me.

he is well known for its (better his fathers) gemstones  and the beautiful email work.
