So many little family-owned places, especially in Oxnard. hard to find a stinker meal.
The Avenue down here in VTA has a couple.
Lately been hanging out at the El Rey on Main St. All family recipes. Has great black velvet Elvis paintings and bras hanging off the overheadlights. pProbably the best tequila selection around.
Hamburguesas are awesome, too.

Taco Tuesday!

Normally, Tuesdays are my fish taco days at Rubio's fish taco. But not today. If I do go out for tacos today, I'll be trying the Jack In The Box taco.

The fried fish tacos are pretty good IMO.

First of all, they do not look anywhere near like the tacos in the picture :P

The inside of the taco probably has maybe 1/5 of the filling in the picture.   But I have to admit, they do sure taste GREAT.  Only thing though, they're really not that healthy but you only live once!

Finally I tasted Jack in the box tacos (after being in the States for 13+ years!). You're right, it's not like the picture on the display. The hard shell was pretty good (maybe because it was freshly fried), but there wasn't much meat in it. However, most likely it'll be another 13 years before I buy JIB tacos .

My sister-in-law just had here birthday catered by Tito's. And she lives in the Valley.

I college we get those tacos at 2 am when we need to stay up all night to study. They would keep you awake but the next day was pretty rough. No sure if they changed the cooking method but they would deep fry the shell with the meat in it.

i used to eat those bad boys y-e-a-r-s ago, in my old "party" days when I used to get the munchies. Nowadays, i just make my own.

Hope all is well!  Prior to this past Tuesday, I've only been to JIB once, 13 years ago - was a college kid without driver license, and since then I had "forgotten" how JIB burger yummy-NOT taste. I just had to try the Tacos and sure enough I've decided not to go back again, at least for another 13 years .

Thanks for the coupon for the 2 free tacos.  The last time I had one was back around 1996 when I was in college.  I recall that the tacos were frozen and I would watch them just dumped it in the fryer along with the french fries.  It was cheap eats (I think back then it was 3 for $1.00) but I'll never eat one again.
