... for forty years. It happened in November 1989, when the Berlin wall came down, the government of the communist Eastern Germany folded, and the GDR citizens were free to see their neighbors in West Germany.
A few very good freinds of mine were among them - I remember receiving their first phone call from "the West", we all wept from joy ...

Marcus
EDIT: Ooopps ... just realized that there is a slight difference between "exitus" and "exodus" ...
A good friend is from West Berlin. He has told me similar tales from November 89.
Are there many (any) Trabbies left?

I believe that photo is from Perth, Western Australia and was taken a couple of years back. The crash occurred outside the Windsor Hotel (a pub) and was witnessed by the Sunday drinking crowd.
The driver was drunk and trying to impress the crowd. I think he did... but not the way he wanted.
...and it gets even better. It did indeed happen outside the Windsor Hotel, riverside in South Perth. The story goes that the driver had been 'turning it on' for the crowd trying to have a quiet beer on a hot day. They gave him the thumbs-down. He thrashed the car in reply - but lost it! The crowd went wild - regrettably BDLJ's photo hasn't shown on screen - there was absolutely no sympathy whatsoever. The best bit? The popular understanding is that the driver did not own the Ferrari: the car was out on loan from the dealer!!!
Cheers,
pplater.
Here's another shot of that crashed Ferrari...Right in front of a pub...
I remember i got to drive a very early TT from D'Ieteren ..., but i really wasn't convinced ...
