Directly across the street the wailings of a pre-school child were echoing along the entire block, coming from the open door of this beautiful view balcony.

Now for something new and different (in most ways). What it had in common was another wailing infant. I guess because it's a warm morning all the windows are open.

Here's the kind of house I grew up in. Early Fifties, Ten thousand dollars, family home. Judging from the chair position on the porch, mom and dad aren't speaking to each other.
After mom and dad kissed and made up, there were new brothers and sisters coming along, and this is where you moved when the starter home couldn't hold them all...
An unusual style in San Diego, but a very clean place, for sure.
I mentioned the complication of hillside lots. Like this is a sidewalk!!!
And does the mailman really have to climb those stairs every day?

Ocean Beach Early Morning
Today we don't feature any sand or surf, because it was gray and the parking lot was nearly full at 7:30 am - a congregation of surfers competing with groggy homeless folk waking and spreading their limbs out of sleeping bags, van back doors, or washing their feet in a parking lot puddle..
There's the water way down there - you can't tell sky from ocean at the moment.
I don't want to look at "other" today, I want something cheerful, clean and beautiful.
BTW - this is an artichoke, if you've never seen one outside the market.

So we drove up the hill, where the view was wider and fewer people distracted us from our walk... instead we could focus on houses, cars, plants, animals, birds, etc.

There were a number of interesting cars today, including this nice long-bed Chevy pickup nicely contrasted with the Cape Honeysuckle hedge and American flag.
Continuing the truck theme, a rare Jeep pickup with a small cab-over camper shell on the back.
Now a butterscotch PT Cruiser with fancy rims.
And the star for today! Hank's Hudson Hornet Hollywood edition beach cruiser.
One of the few K-cars still on the road I suspect, a Chrysler LeBaron Convertible with wood-grain looking like new (and like the wood was an aftermarket kit - but it was factory)
And a sadly-neglected Buick LeSabre.
The neighbor nobody really wants to live next door to... or across the street from.
We will stop with the 2-Mini family cottage.

Wow, I have such variety to choose from I hardly know where to start.
Rather than sort them bottom to top or vice versa I think I'll just sprinkle them as we walked (and drove) along. Eccentric Variety is how I summarize the neighborhood.
