Hi,
the "OM" indicates that it is solid gold - thats right.
But there are plenty of 18K gold dials without this "OM" markings. The hint is on the back of the dials - there you will find "18K" .
To be sure you will have to remove the dial and have a close inspection of the back... sometimes you can also find the word "or" - French word for gold.

Yes, as far as I have been able to ascertain 2699 is the earliest 18k dial for a Constellation. It makes sense in a way because the 2699 and 2700 were the first models to feature a pie pan dial.
Re OM, the earliest I have seen OM on a gold dial in the Constellation range is on an OT 2930 Grand Luxe delivered to Omega's French agents in 1957. The dial was genuine and not refinished.

Probably the first non-Connie example that I know of.
