They all disguise their accents for shows in the US. Yes, show was surreal, but did you ever check out the production design? Half the budget went into the details.
One of our good friends was costumer for "That 70s Show" and before that "Third Rock from the Sun". I know how hard they work to get a show to look so good.

we had pushing daisies in UK
mainly due to the fact that the sexy british actress Anna Friel was in it ( i can still remember her Lesbian kiss in a UK soap opera in the 90's. unforgettable 
....)
Pushing daisies was a bit too surreal for my liking so i didnt take a lot of notice of the PI's watch.
