I just love the mesh bracelet on the new Ploprof!  It looks really stylish, and well-constructed.  The vintage Ploprof was already a good-sized chunk of metal, but this re-edition is massive!  Art has said the watch wears well, potentially due in part to the unusually shaped case, but it still looks intimidating to me!  I have large wrists and can wear big watches, but this scares me a little!  I'm dying to see it in person though.

Thanks for sacrificing all that shut-eye for our benefit.  You are a dedicated Purist  -- staying up until 4am to impart some knowledge to your fellow forum members!  I appreciate your write-up!

The only tinge of sadness for me is that now "anyone" can wear a PloProf -- still, it's a great looking piece!  Brilliant and thorough comparison.  My hope is that the fix on the 600 is straigtforward, and that you'll be able to wear it again soon.

Possibily this will be my first Omega (or the Speedmaster 40th Anniversary Apollo 11)

.....probably a little silly on the smaller wrists depicted in subsequent photos by Kong.

Then again, for it's "unique" design and history, EVERY Omega dive watch enthusiast has to have one!

Whilst I couldn't swap straps during my time with the new Ploprof, here is a profile comparison of the new rubber next to the old rubber, mesh and link bracelets. As you can see, the lug width is 24mm and so fit isn't a problem from that perspective:



The problem will be in lug/strap thickness. The lug recess of the new watch is taller and the rubber strap is noticeably thicker. I'm not sure if the new straps will fit the old watch (but I certainly hope so!):

I haven't tried the mesh, but the new rubber "Ploprof" - labeled strap does fit the vintage SMP600.

Great post on a a great watch. My question is you say the case width is less than the case height, but that does not appear to be correct I'm assuming your dimesions are the overall size of the case?

Welcome to the forum....

But I am not sure what you mean....  

The case width of the new 1200m is 48 mm measuring from the outside edge of the crown to the opposite side of the case  ( from 3 o'clock to 9 o'clock ) . 

The case height is the measurement from the back of the case to top of the bezel.  The height is 17.5mm .

Hi Bill, sorry if I did not make myself clear. 48mm wor the overall case width doesn't seem that big at all to me. In your post you stated that the length of the case (12 to 6) is 54.7mm. When you look at the watch face-on, it looks wider than it does in length. Maybe it's an optical illusion.

Great post by the way, I think Omega have done a fantastic job on this re-issue.
