Omega

While on the way to a meeting in town the other day, I noticed a Flightmaster in a shop window and had to go enquire. Being one of the more romantic historical Omega references (IMHO) - everything with a DC-8 has got to be - it is also one that I could well see owning one day.

Still, want to know what would appear to be changed and if this is something I need to take into consideration

Although at that price point (which to a non WIS will sound extremely posh) if you really like it (and as long all has been done by Omega); why not? These types of watches will probably never become auction power houses anyway so it's purely about owners pleasure.

Let's see what the feedback is (and if it is still there next time I go to town ).

Why are you worried about an Omega service? If you ask them to not touch the dial and hands (and if you take several pictures just in case) that should be ok. No?

As Arie told you previously. If you really love it... buy it! 😉

From what I have heard, Omega replaces certain parts whether you want to or not (anything with tritium, for instance) (maybe I am wrong). In this case I believe the hands and dial have already been replaced - with OE Omega parts most likely but they are not original. If this is an issue, well - that is where I would need advice
Will have to sleep over it some more...

If you finally decide to buy it, may be you'll start a nice hunt to find the correct hands. Another nice part of our passion 😉

Judging by your pictures it will not be a mistake to go in favour of this piece.
It is looking factory new and very nice.
I would get it.

The perpetual dilemma indeed. To be quite honest, I do like the way the condition is on this one, just not sure if this means consequences some time down the line...

. . . revolves more around you than the watch: would you feel comfortable with a restored example?  Some guys are, and then there are others (like yours truly) that hold out for original pieces.  In my case, ten years.






That said, at least it's a 910, and the bracelet is acceptable, if not entirely correct.  So long as the transaction is south of $3K US, it's ok.

Hi I may be responding late to the thread but I will give my two cents. OMEGA restores watches to factory condition which means changing dial, hands everything which can kill the collectibility and period correctness of the watch.This what happened during the OMEGA saga auction back in 2008 when a number of timepieces weren't period correct.
For me a flightmaster has to have t-swiss made-t dial, the colored pushers and crowns as well as the perfect sunburst case finish.Personnally , I wouldn't buy a flightmaster with a service dial.I would rather hunt a for a mint original and unmolested example.
