I haven't got any feedback on another board, so if anybody could answer a few questions, that would be great. This was an impulse buy; my GP knowledge is very limited and I'm definitely not a gold watch guy, but this one just caught my eye and I actually like it. Very comfortable at 39mm not including crown. Not much info that I could find on it, other than it has a reworked JLC 916 movement, circa 1970, and is somewhat uncommon. It seems to run well and alarm works. Nice overall condition with some minor tool marks on caseback and crystal scratches. Has the original GP gator strap and buckle. So my questions are: 

 I read that only 300 or so of these were produced. Is this correct? 
The crowns are marked "GP" and "A". Are these original?
What is the GP reference number?
I can't find any sales history of these. Is there a demand for this reference, and what is an estimate of the current value? (my apologies if values are not allowed to be discussed)

Any feedback or additional comments is greatly appreciated.

During the 60's and 70's JLC provided watches/movements to several brands such as Fabre-Leube, Gübelin and GP.

Often the movement was reworked by the barand, some more, some less...

 

I have no info on numbers - please check between the lugs at 6 or inside caseback.

There should be a reference number. With that it would be easier to ask for information.

Thank you for the welcome to this excellent site and your response. There are no markings between the lugs; I am going to my watchmaker on Monday so I will be able to check the inside of the case back at that time. I did find another old post at another forum that mentioned reference #9443 for this watch and an estimated production of 350 with this configuration, so hopefully I can confirm this on Monday.

Thanks crown comfort for the welcome. It looks like mine might have been the inspiration for the later Traveller II with the date window at 6 and the alarm disk at 12. I've learned that this should have a GP cal 080-351, which is a reworked JLC cal 916 of Memovox fame. I'll be interested to confirm on Monday when I can get the case back off. Nice Traveller II by the way, not familiar with it but I like it! I've got a Rolex GMT Master II black & blue that I'm picking up at the AD next week, so I'm looking forward to that as well. Gotta love GMTs

Hi,

I have now received info from the Manufacture:

350 units in steel

350 units in gold plated

Retail price at that point was CHF 450.

Caliber GP 080 in based on the JLC Caliber 916 fitted with a Gyromatic winding system.

JLC Cal 916 was in production approx from 1970 and replaced in the late 1990s by the Cal 918.
