It is interesting to see what GP has install for us for 2008. I just read from the latest World of Watch magazine that GP is working on a new enscapement and a totally new Intergrated chrono. I guess its no secret since it was revealed by the Great man himself Don Gino Macaluso. In the interview Gino also mention they are investing on new Metal.

Looking at the trend now days IWC, PP and other manufacture had introduce their own intergrated Chrono and new enscapement. What is so special about GP's new invention? Well, we will just have to wait and find out in 2009, I guess.

The way I see GP is has been an innovator and will be in the future if you look at their recent new Jackpot, richville day&night and their tourbillon be it 3 golden bridge or 3 sapphire bridge. The Vintage 45 Tourbillon Magistral is to die for. It has 3 base calibre the GP 3300, GP 2700 and GP 4500 and also the Tourbillon. Does that also means that we will see GP coming out with watches like Richard Mille ie new metal & AP carbon?

What I would like to see in the future is that GP producing more manual wind watch and a longer power reserve watch. If its possible a wwtc with an alarm function or wwtc with a minute repeater. I know that JLC has produce the Extreme world alarm but it'll be nice to have a luxury wwtc alarm financial time each time the stock exchange opens you get an alarm or in a minute repeater wwtc gets a gong sound. I'll be useful for an investor who has investment world wide.

I could only look an admire the 3 golden Bridge Tourby coz it cost a tonnes of money. It looks like GP is going to reposition it self as a very highend watch manufacture at par or higher than Breguet and Jean Richard will be at par to JLC. Actually GP is up there with Breguet, PP and AP but they lack in the marketing dept. No doubt tht GP is popular in Europe and other part of the world but not in Asia. GP have to work hard on that. I like what they have done to Jean Richard lots of new models and invention such as the Time Square. Massimo and JR team keep up the good work.

However modern we are getting mechinical watches will still be part of us and good watch makers (hand made watch) are hard to come by. A company like GP which produce below 20,000 piece each year- attention to detail & high quality.

although I probably won't rate Jean Richard on par with JLC.  I also like to see a movement with more power reserves and more manual wind (perhaps with the higher end haute horlogerie collection at least)  I like a lot of GP's designs but I just can't figure out why they haven't captivate more audience that they truely deserved.  I guess the slogan "watches for the few since 1791" really fits and I'm really fortunate enough to have discovered the brand. 

Not the best pic, but I love the watch.  My first GP!  Amazing I haven't had one in over 15 years of this hobby.

I also like to congratulate for a very nice piece of watch !
The Evo moon could be, one day, my first GP watch although I haven't seen it in nature yet !
Alternatively, the 1966 is amazing to me (a bit in rivalry with Lange 1815).
A new simple three pointer Laureato would be my wish for 2008 as I already messaged here.
