Orange is  warm and stimulating, evokes both emotions and appetite too.

Orange also has long been associated with diving watches, be it orange dial, indices or hands.

Strangely, orange is at the longer wavelength (of the visible spectrum) which will first  be absorbed and scattered at about 10 m below the surface. 

So why orange ( as it is not functional at 10m below) ?

It is the colour that will get notice without screaming... it DEMANDS attention!



(To sidetrack)...What is the colour that still visible at 100  to 150metres?




A few pictures of the Pro One and Pro One GMT.        Which do you prefer?

Case Diameter are the same at 42mm.  Thickness is 13.3mm, water-resistant to 300m. 

Screw-down crown and crown diameter is 7mm. 


Luminous indices and hands.... for Pro One GMT - the markers on the sapphire-bezel too.
120 clicks per full bezel rotation... this feature is useful when in the water with your thick glove on...by pressing your palm over the watch, you could receive the click-feedback indicating the period set.

Movement is the robust L.U.C 4.96 H24 (for the Pro One GMT ) and L.U.C 4.96 ( Pro One) with a decent power reserve of 65 hours.  The second hand can be hacked for the Pro One GMT.

However for the GMT feature, will have to use the bezel as the indicator.  The GMT could not be adjusted independently.
I guessed, since this is a diving watch, L.U.C removes the quick-set button (normally at 8'o clock position) as it might weaken the Pro One GMT to handle the  300m pressure.

The cyclop or date magnifier is nicely done...by not swelling out from the crystal.

Lug size is 20mm, the straps (leather & rubber) is 20 X 18mm... the lug size should be bigger (like 22mm) to enable a broader straps, which will make the whole look more balance and proportional... even more masculine!  (which should be the way for sport pieces).  
A rule of thumb for myself, the factor of the Case Diameter to the Lug-size should be below 1.90 .

I like the older Pro One A friend owns it and cant be happier when Chopard finally resolves his bezel problem. Very very good job done by Chopard Cheers.

width of the strap . Otherwise its a nice looking piece . Its great for Kong to highlight it so those who are interested really have to try it first .

We had a chance to handle it at the SWA a few months back and the fit of the watch was a total letdown for me .

Firstly, beautiful pictures as always...

Pro One GMT Orange for me. Was initially aiming for this as compared to the former as found the orange to be really striking.

Until the LE version came about in which managed to get hold of it.

Next question is ... Pro One GMT Orange against the White version ??

attractive.  Compare to the regular Black dial, the black dial looks more stealthy and has the tech-feel.

Winsurf, what will happen if the straps are WHITE?

Looks more avant garde, I guess.

A Brief About The L.U.C Pro One Cadence

Cadence is one of the racing teams in the regattas on Lake Geneva for the Decision 35s (D35).

D35 is a 35 feet long (10.81 metres) racing catamaran and built to a standard specification, consisting entirely of cutting edge technological materials enable it to maneuver in demanding sailing conditions with a top speed of 30 knots.

Four years ago, Chopard decided to support Cadence, owned by Jean-François Demole, a friend of Chopard Co-President Karl-Friedrich Scheufele.

The crew has performed well and in the first race (on 12 to 13 May 2007) of the 2007 Challenge Julius Baer,the Grand Prix Chopard, Cadence finished fourth. After 10 races (ended in 30 September 2007), Team Cadence grabbed the overall 3rd position (out of 10 extremely competitive teams)!

White straps......sounds cool, never thought about it.

The original straps were black but managed to change it to a darker blue thick strap though... guess something different..

Will post it one day when I can get hold of a digital camera...

Just saw this over xmas in SanRemo, made me change my mind about getting a GrandSeikoGMT

I guess for a european it wil be just as difficult to get hold of ...

 

BTW does Chopard have blue straps for the Pro One or did you use some aftermarket strap?

Yes the blue strap that was changed was from LUC . It came with black initailly but decided on blue instead.

I think that would look real good and maybee i will get it some day.
