Nice pieces of art on a watch
The whole LUC urushi series is amazing. My favorite remains the Jungle dial. This Year of the Monkey is pretty nice too with nice combinations of colors.

I think Chopard started the Eastern Zodiac Japanese Lacquer series with Snake
I can't be sure but I think Chopard started the Eastern Zodiac series with the Snake for 2013 and followed by Horse and Goat.

2016 is Year of the Monkey from 8th February.
The Eastern Zodiac series start is the Year of the Rat but I don't remember seeing that dial nor the Cow, Tiger, Rabbit and Dragon that precede the Snake, earlier in the series.
Chopard's relationship with 'Heiando' lacquer studio started in 2010. They produced a Crouching Tiger and Horned Dragon but they were not formally in the Zodiac series.
I guess we have to wait for the cycle to come round in 2020 for those early animals to appear.

The Monkey dial is pretty good. My question is where can this type of monkey be found ? Japan ?

May be similar to Japanese Macaque?

I guess the nearest visage is the Japanese Macaque that likes hot springs.
Although the artist would probably say its a generic representation of a monkey in Eastern mythology like Sun Wu Kung.

Chopard knows Urushi/ Maki-e all too well.....
... that's a great artistic dial for sure. Would love to see it when it's done!
