Blancpain

My divers have always been Rolex, mostly because they are so robust and bomb proof.

I can't take my eyes off the FF though but I' a bit concerned about the reliability. A close friend has a BP which is about to go back for service for the second time in less than a year (power reserve issues).

How robust is the FF movement? Are they easy to service? Any know issues with the modern design/version?

I've had my FF Chrono for about two years and no problems to be signaled, not the same movement though as the standard FF.

It is difficult to say, from one bad experience, that the new FF is not reliable, and then to generalize.

It can happen with any watch from any brand.

The most important thing is to know if the brand can solve the problem, in my opinion.

What I heard from many modern FF lovers is that their watch works flawessly.

The movement is the strong point of this watch, an excellent evolution of the famous and very nice 13 RO.

Everything  has its price, for sure, but I don't think this is a model to avoid.

...forgot to mention that my buddy owns a BP Leman Big Date, not a FF per se.

I'm not trying to extrapolate from one experience, thus I'm seeking input from a broader audience.

While I'm not abusing my watches on purpose, low-maintenance and high reliability are key features I'm looking for in my time pieces. I don't wear ultra-thinks, multi-complications or not water-proof pieces, they simply don't fit my active lifestyle.

Love the vintage look of the FF though, now I have to find a place to try it on in person....

I have personally owned one and they are extremely robust the FF but not the Chrono, as for there service this is Pathetic

Also, how much is a normal CLA for a BP diver? $500? $800?

When a watch company doesnt respond to your countless emails is an indication  how good there service firstly, they are known for there poor aftersales service, my experience came from the top as well M Hayek, so if its at the top what chance have you got really.

Interestingly enough, I'm sitting here at home this morning wondering what to do with my FF which has just stopped running.  I wonder if Blancpain will show me goodwill or charge for a repair?
We shall soon see!

I should add that my watch is only 36 months old!

Just got my estimate thru from Blancpain - £716.86!!!
To repair a high-end quality watch which has failed catastrophically after just over two years of wear (very occasional wear).
I find this extraordinary - only beaten by the fact that the repair will take 16-17 weeks to be done!!

I think I'll stick to Rolex in future.

That is highly unfortunate. I have to say, of all the watches I've owned Rolex, JLC, Panerai etc the ONLY one that has never given me any issues are my Rolex sport watches. They may be "mass produced" and not true "haute horologie" but they are stellar EDC pieces, and I'll never get rid of my Submariner and Sea-Dweller.
