I noticed this a while back when I had my AP RO DT 26120 and had asked AP about this when I visited LeBrassus back in 2008.  They confirmed that the power reserve indicator doesn't go to the absolute full position on the subdial scale.  It goes somewhere in middle of the solid white area of the scale which indicates full wind.  I was able to get a little over 40 hours so it fits within the specs. 
Which color dial do you have?  Any pics of where your power reserve indicator displays on your watch?

Thanks for the response ED-209. i can't take photos now but the indicator on mine is at the same position as that shown in your pic when it is fully wound.

So, I wonder why AP has done decided to make the indicator such that it will never reach the top...

Also, it seems that when the watch is not in use, i.e. the spring is not being wound, it takes several hours before the indicator starts going down. This seems to suggest that when a fully wound spring is unwinding the first 20% or so, the unwinding does not move the indicator. The indicator starts moving downwards when the 'charge' has dropped to about 80%.

If this is the case, i am just thinking whether if i wind the watch until the indicator stops at 80% and i stop winding then, is the watch fully wound? or would i have to continue winding it another 20 or so rounds 'blindly' (because the indicator would have stopped going upwards) to have the watch fully wound.

I know all this doesn't really affect my enjoyment of this beautiful piece, but just thought that it'd be good to know....

Thanks MosesL for sharing your experience with your AP.  Nice to know that it's consistent between mine and yours.  I agree with you that it's a bit odd that the indicator doesn't go to the top of the scale (almost as strange as if the fuel gauge on my car doesn't go to the max scale when it's full LOL).  Anyway, for the winding, my experience is that once it reaches the max point in the middle of the white scale area I kinda know it's fully wound and even when I wind it manually I just stop and don't worry about the extra winding past that point.
