By: DRMW : September 6th, 2010-19:44
PuristSPro revisits the Audemars Piguet Musuem and Manufacturer in Le Brassus, Switzerland.
"Hello PuristS! welcome to the AP Museum, my name is Michel Golay and I am in charge of the Retrospect for Audemars Piguet and I welcome you all here to the Audemars Piguet Museum"
-Mr. Michel Golay
Located in the Vallee de Joux, Switzerland, is the Audemars Piguet Museum and Manufacture HQ. The AP museum is built on what was formally the home of the Audemars family and now also houses the Complications and Restoration workshops led by master watchmaker Mr. Francisco Pansandin.
The main building:
The weather was picture perfect and the air was fresh and crisp. A low laying fog rolled in the morning and the cold night frosted the valley floor.
As we stroll inside the AP museum, Mr. Golay Gives us some insights to the history and philosophy of the manufacture.
Next up: PART 1: The AP ambassadors around the world PART 2: AP Restoration/Complications department
Checkout the new APROO Pride of Mexico 'CeraMet' bezel!

Lots more on the way! Busy working on all the vids for the AP l'Hydroptere sailing event in Saint Tropez but will have the next part of the trip here shortly.
BTW, checkout the AP ROO Pride of Mexico LE with a bezel in a new material 'CeraMet' composed of 18% nickel, 66% ceramic, and 16% "NOTC" which is some kind of proprietary blend of titanium carbide. There was limited info but I speculate it is some sort of MIM process that will have all the benefits of both ceramic and metal. The watch overall felt heavier than Tantalum!
Quick pics for now:

The new Pride of Mexico LE is very good looking. I am really interested to learn more about the new material 'CeraMat.' I also want to see what AP will do with the new material. It would have been an interesting material choice for the bezel of the new Diver, no?
Thanks DRMW for the pics of the visit to the AP Museum and Manufacturer.
The Ceramat material sounds interesting. Is it made in-house like the carbon forge department? And is MIM tolerances good enough for the bezel on a ROO? Can't wait to hear about the use of Ceramat.
I'm speculating it's some kind of MIM as they were vague in details but the process sounds like it. More info as we get it, for now I'll be posting pics on the Pride of Mexico shortly.
