Patek Sale & Service is above par

 By: Mally : November 22nd, 2019-11:02
Patek only charged me only the residual difference in price on upgrading to the clasp after 6 months of my purchase.

In my experience, Patek service is a veritable nightmare. Not once, twice, but several times. [nt]

That’s in your opinion...

My experience has been nothing but superb.

Which Patek did you deal with? I’m trying to do the same without success. [nt]

Sorry, most of us here will disagree with you. In my experience, AP service is THE BEST. Nobody is perfect though...

Sorry you encountered troubles.

These posts are always difficult.  To full assess your situation, things to know are:

what watch? purchased brand new? from which dealer? authorized or not?  general service history? On and on we can go.  Really, nothing we can do except state opinions, same as you.

But what I can state as fact is if you own an AP watch, purchased directly from an authorized dealer, they will fully honor their warranty on the specific piece.  And quite commonly, go above and beyond.

I agree. Except that they insist ruthlessly in calling a watch a time piece. 🤣🤣🤣 [nt]

Yes Mally, obviously not. But you never included any info in your initial post, so who would know?

 By: MichaelC : November 22nd, 2019-12:49
This might come as a shock, but not everyone posting things on the internet shares the entire truth to a story.

Since you asked...15400 from Montres Prestige Geneva [nt]

Thought Bold Fonts weren’t permitted

 By: Mally : November 22nd, 2019-11:43
As per purists guides, Michael...
I’m only being subjective on my issue.

Hmm, I don't know that rule? But I used a few capital letters. No bold font. [nt]

I can talk only from my experience

Having had first hand experience with purchasing an AP offshore chronograph black themes new from the authorised dealer in Dubai (there is only one so you should know who it is). Had an issue with movement (JLC base plus Dubois dépraz module). Took it in to rue de la fusterie boutique in Geneva (next to Baroque club) and it was repaired for a hefty price (compared to patek and Rolex service costs for vintage and newer watches). And 13 months later without the watch being dropped it stopped working again. Took it again to Geneva and again paid. Having read dr. Kol’s experience with his two AP watches a few years ago on here and how unsympathetic the moderator was put me off the brand. Love the AP 15202BC white gold salmon dial and saw it at Dubai watch week but don’t have the courage to buy that piece given the experience I read on dr. Kol’s Watches (2 hander and his perpetual calendar) with the same base caliber. What any brand needs to understand is that you can turn a bad situation into a good experience. We understand that these are expensive toys and the tiny machinery is made by men and there can be issues with the craft but it’s seldom. But for god sake, stand behind your product and make your customer right. Admit you can improve on the service this gentleman has received instead of questioning his good faith. All of us are here enjoying the passion for watches and what’s the point of this forum if we cannot help each other? 99 percent of the people in this world are good. Can we not assume that any gentleman posting here posts in good faith and when he reaches out to ask for help, he is stating facts and not bashing on the brand. He is obviously tormented. We love our watches. Hopefully I have not offended anyone. If this post is inappropriate, please feel free to delete it. 🙏🏻
PS: the AP black thèmes since was stolen so good luck to whomever has it. 😂 I love the AP royal oak cufflinks. Now those are fire 🙌🏻🙌🏻

Completely concur [nt]

We have heard stories like this way too often here.

 By: Reuven Malter : November 22nd, 2019-12:12
Maybe its just the clearwater service center that is great. Heard this a few times from asian buyers as well. Dont buy any ap and enjoy your other pieces. And when people are trying to question the story i can say that dr. Kol said that same thing couple of years ago and we were believing him. Yet maybe its just bad luck and all the unhappy iwc, pp, jlc, als owners are writing somewhere else wink because we hear these kind of stories mostly from Ap-owners...

Sloane Square is in London...

 By: Mally : November 22nd, 2019-12:21
But AP in Switzerland does need to own & address responsibility for the, uh, time piece I bought as I, unfortunately, trusted AP the brand?

I can only comment on USA-Clearwater service...

I have had 3 watches serviced there over the years. One of them I delivered in-person and was given a complete facility tour. It was a memorable experience.

I am sorry that your service has been less than satisfactory. I can only state that my experience with AP NA service has been flawless.

All the best... HEO

AP Service in my experience has been excellent. My only complaint is that AP service is very expensive when it doesn’t need to be (Patek serviced my Calatrava for only $350, AP charged me $1100 for my 15400–both are simply 3 hand watches). [nt]

I think it depends on the service center. I would go with Clearwater no matter where I was in the world, they are superb. [nt]

You bought the watch in Geneva form an AD and you gave it for service in NYC and in London?
Why not choose one place to deal with?

An Update

 By: Mally : November 25th, 2019-14:47
Thought the right thing to do would be to update; Have finally received a mail from AP with a service estimate. My special thanks to Michael for all his help.
Will post further once I physically receive the watch.

Mally - Good to hear!

 By: MichaelC : November 25th, 2019-15:53
No brand is perfect. We can all agree about that.
But I have every confidence in Audemars Piguet to rectify any issues with watches under warranty, and their own service work. Maybe there is something specific to your sample that has caused a few repeat problems. It is up to the brand to get it sorted out for you. And I'm sure they want to do exactly that.
Please do keep us posted.

Malloy that’s great. AP will make it right. Michael do you work for AP? Great to have someone like you on here! [nt]

No Sir. Just the designated AP Moderator for our website.

 By: MichaelC : November 25th, 2019-20:17
I have a few contacts at the brand and sometimes am able to pass information along. Happy to assist when I am able.

Very nice! Not to take it off topic but curious which APs you have in your collection? [nt]
