15400 Trouble
I was on a cruise & in Europe over 3 weeks with 15400 on. Looked got, got a lot of appreciative comments & worked well and then it just stopped. Well, so I gave it a shake and it started but this has happened thrice now over a week. I also noted that if its off the wrist, it appears to work but with wrist time, it stops after like 48 hours (random). Its hand wound now and working. The watch is 4 years old and was serviced (paid) by AP in year one in the US because it was running very fast and I was told it was magnitized. Should I send it again for service? Any inputs would be welcome.

Date change problem?

If there is a problem with date change mechanism(not changing smoothly or jumps1.5 or 2 days) either manual hand advance, quick date function or by movement itself, it has got a problem with internal date driver wheel which happens quite often and stops the balance entirely due to the blockage caused by broken date wheel.
Must go back to service centre for replacement if that is the case.

The Cal. 3120 inside Royal Oak 15400 has 60 hours of power reserve when fully wound. From what you just described, it seems there is nothing wrong with the watch since the watch is working properly when you manually wind it. From my past experience, there could be couple reasons:
1. It's been 3~4 years since your last service, depending on how often you wear your watch, the oil may have dried up already. The watch just needs to be cleaned and lubricated again.
2. Since you are on vacation, there might be a chance that your arm just isn't moving as frequently as when you are in the office working. If your arm isn't moving, then the rotor isn't winding.
Move it to the wrist you use most
If you are right handed try it on your right wrist for a few days and see if it winds better. Or your beer glass lifting hand. I’ve had this happen with a couple watches - and yes, sadly for me, it took a service to solve. Or stop caring and just wind it, wear it, and switch to another watch if you have them.

I don‘t think that the malfunction depends on the daily activities of the wearer.
The movement of the 15400 is inside my ROO 15707 CE (four years old, serviced by AP in Nov. 2018) as well. In February this year - after days full of activities - it stopped working only about half an hour after I had laid the watch down for the night. This happened several times so I had to send it to AP to get it repaired (free of charge!) but unfortunately they didn‘t tell me what was wrong with the movement. I assume that the Cal. 3120 is not as robust as it is expected by the customers - and if the watch is confronted with a user behaviour like a Rolex can be used the movement might be overstrained. It is a really beautiful movement, but perhaps not durable enough for a sports watch?
Frequet serving needed
The movement might look robust, oil sinks are very small and can not apply sufficient oil in jewels for 3120&3126 and so frequent servicing will be necessary to sustain watch functions and parts quality are also not that good according to my local repairer.
