This indeed is a rarely seen Ref.. And with some bullish charme..And as you pointed out..

 By: hs111 : October 11th, 2014-06:17

.. all the ingredients to make it a valid member of the (J)LC Diver family.
Somehow I always mix it up with another Ref, which has a red lollipop-type
seconds hand, and some common DNA ( Master Mariner ?)... - Darn, can't remember any more ! ..

2 Interesting little issues,
1/ the story about the ".. 3 interchangable (!!) inserts", mentioned on your ad:
for me your Le Coultre ad with various divers, which also mentions the Shark, - Ref 2643/2 , then with the World Time insert ( the one, we both have, and like a lot)

But your catalog also mentions (!!) two more inserts:
- one with hours markings (?),
- one more with 60 mins markings.=the Ref 2643/1 - While I have seen on pics the one with minutes ( 60 mins),
(whereby mine was transformed into) the WT, which has lots of appeal , IMO .
- Never seen the Ref with hours - insert. Also interesting, that in parallel to be called " Shark", for the 2643/2,
this WT version also was called " Vogue" in that catalog (1969).
2/ interestingly the shape of the Dolphin lugs, remind me on the Shark Chrono, AND that one on the whole case of my Breguet Type XX. - thus, probably JLC was using the same case- makers,
What do you think ?

Finally, as always my Best

hs

PS: Knowing your wife and your daughter, the latter with her recent step-in
Watch-World and Vintages, I would not be surprised, the f the little Dolphin
soon can be nicely seen on a female wrist
wink wink

Great reading!
smile

This watch happens to be on the top of Juniors wish list...

But I suspect that his real intentions is that he wants the bigger brother...!
wink

More serious, I suspect your right regarding this to be a more generic watch.
I have seen several very similar ladies divers watches from this time period.

Here is one example from 1968, Sandoz.

Also the GP Deep Diver looks very similar with the same bezel construction, supported by a plastic ring from underneath.

Thank you for a great review, my friend!

... to have one wish free, it will be:

make the diameter bigger size!

Also than in the current collection it could have it's place.

Many thanks for giving us such a complexe, laborious presentation,
without knowledge about feedback for such a rare exotic.

 By: amanico : October 12th, 2014-10:42

But it didn't exist....

A modern iteration? Not sure that JLC wants to revisit a Watch which used an outsourced movement....

Nicolas

i am in love in mad love however your comment on not seeing JLC revisiting it due to the fact that its an out sourced movement?

my prayers now are pointed towards a revisit.

Thanks for the eye opener .

Thanks, Faisal. Yes, there are almost no chances we see it revisited.

But like you, I would love to see something in this spirit!

The NS Auto was a first approach.

But we can go farther!

I LOVE the interchangeable bezels (if they're secure and you can change them yourself). I wish I could pop a world-time bezel on my Navy Seals!
