As I promised you to put a huge topic on line, let's start slowly, with a trio of funky Chronometers, from the Grande Maison:

24 000:



24 001



24 002:



I have to confess that it took me some time to fully appreciate them.

The 24 000 is the easiest to love, the 24 002 is the most evident, maybe the most classic among these 3, and the 24 001 is really special to say the least.

Both of them house the Cal 906, which had a very short life, but we'll see all that in the détails...

How do you feel them?

.. for that huge work- product of yours about Chronometry..

As an appetizer these three are very special, it appears;
- my personal fav might be the 24000, followed by the third pic of the 24002 (?)
( there's a little mismatch for this third:
- above the pic it says 24002 ,
- the text below mentions 24004 (?) for the last one.

Apart from that, the typical 70ies case for the middle one (24001) ,
one has to learn to slowly appreciate, and to see in the real, I guess..

On a more general note, there are times, when I ask myself, and wonder
why JLC did/ does not pursue the Chronometre - signature for their products,
and submit its watch types ( each watch ?) for the COCS procedure (?)
- Maybe, because they don't need to (??), because of the cost factor,
or because their watches intrinsicly fulfill the criteria anyway ..

As for your question, they " procedure ", the 1000 Hours Control " is Superior to the Cosc, as the movement is checked INTO the Watch, not OUT OF the Watch. Their tests are more demanding than the COSC.

I asked JLC to send me all the steps of the 1000 Hours Control, and will post as soon as I receive it.

.. are "only" JLC - watches, with that quality signum of 1000 hrs Control
( eg in the papers and/ or on case),
- or will ALL (modern) pieces undergo this - or some other - vigorous testing ?
eg : TT DSA, Reverso(s), Duometres, etc etc .. The whole lineup

Pretty fascinating theme:
- we all take accuracy as a given, while in fact it is a quite demanding sign of quality,
- and we would like to have it at least for a number of years (!), every single day,
but still maintaining this high level of manual craftmanship, also bringing
beauty and appeal to these tic-tacs...

After all, there were not so many Chronometers at JLC... And these one were just killed by the Quartz era...
