This is the first discipline within haute horlogerie that I am qualified to practice. I have been using adhesives since I was 5 years old (actually back then it was glue).
This reminds me of what I have come to call the adhesive conundrum. When attempts to bond objects together fail, it can be caused by;
Improperly cleaned surfaces.
Failure to remove the surface oxide layer.
Too much adhesion promoter.
Too little adhesion promoter.
Wrong bonding chemistry.
Improper curing profile.
etc.
etc.
However, in all instances the adhesive is tenaciously stuck to;
The workbench.
The tools.
Your skin.
Your shirt.
etc.
etc.
