Jaeger-LeCoultre

I never saw this one, but it is rather normal, as...

JLC made several LE for several markets, so it is impossible to have a global knowledge on all these LEs....

To be sure, you should send the ref number to JLC with a pic or two, to check if this model existed, and what is the story behind.

Best!

Yes...waiting for JLC to reply

Yes am afraid there is just too many editions being issued out there for us to keep track of everyone.

Guess asking JLC to verify is the best source. Have done it through LeClub on their website. Hope they reply.

If they do, will share with you all

Gary

Thanks for keeping us updated, my friend.

Nice emblem

By: Mark in Paris : October 26th, 2012-01:57
I tried to find what it could be on google for the fun but no clue. Maybe it was provided by the owner ... Curious to know the answer.

Nice Reverso by the way.

Did the same as well....but could find any image

even for the dial design, I did not find this model.

but the emblem is nice in a "generic" kind of way....something nice and easily acceptable instead of initials or dates.

well, am hoping JLC will be able to shed more light on this

Beautiful

Another stunning piece. Lucky you. Enjoy!

Unfortunately still no news from JLC yet

Really want to know more about this piece before I make the purchase. Hopefully it is still there in the shop. Any how, it's got me curious to find out the meaning behind the emblem. Hope I hear from them soon.

Nice Watch!

The engraving looks just like the Victorinox logo.

Almost but not quite

Swiss Coat of Arms

 By: georgetownhoya : November 11th, 2012-06:34
It looks to me like the Coat of Arms of Switzerland, just with a wreath surrounding it for decoration and a slightly fancier shield. Both of those additions are, to the best of my knowledge, legitimate in heraldry.

Here is an 1897 print of the coats of arms of the Swiss cantons, with the overall Swiss Coat of Arms at the top:

That is a beautiful Reverso and if it is the right price, I would buy it!

it does look like it....thanks george [nt]

A Reply From JLC...

 By: foowy : November 20th, 2012-01:18
Its been a while but today a reply came through from JLC regarding the Reverso I posted.

I think it is only appropriate that I share the info with you guys, since I've got some of you curious.

The info I got:

The watch is from 1998.... a unique series of 150 pieces for the 150th anniversary of the first Swiss federal constitution in 1848. The engraving is the Swiss national symbol since 19th century

However they cannot be sure if the watch is genuine base on the pictures I sent. Their advice was to send the watch  to the Archives Department (via JLC website) to have the watch examined, for which the service is chargeable to the customer.

That is all the info they have for me.

So our fellow purist georgetownhoya is right about the emblem.

Hope the info is useful.

A great many thanks to the team at JLC and Terry from the local AD for their great help.

Will I get the Reverso? I haven't been back to the shop since the last time, so I hope the watch is still there for me to have a final look.

Again too many watches but only have funds for one.....just saw a Rolex GMT 16700 today (would post in the Rolex forum)....so once again, the clash of the titans....Jaeger vs Rolex....who will win. Both desirable in their own rights.

Thanks for the update, Foowy. One of those watches we ignored.

Many thanks.

Authentic

 By: georgetownhoya : November 23rd, 2012-17:56
Hi Foowy, I think there is almost no chance it is a fake watch. No fake would do such a good job on the engravings of the Swiss coat of arms and the 18k marking. Good luck!

thats what i thought as well

fakes would usually be of the more popular mass models....but in the end I didnt go for it and opted for a GMT 16700 instead...

thanks georgetownhoya
