As you probably know JLC decided some months ago about a special edition of the MC Navy SEALs for the Madrid retailer ALDAO. The important difference of this watches is all the inscriptions (the JLC logo, the “300M, etc.) ARE NOT in the dial, but in the sapphire crystal. That way when the disc turns to adjust the alarm, the inscription doesn’t move and turns around. Aesthetically this is a great improvement in my opinion, and makes the watch much more desirable that the standard one.

The edition is limited to only 30 watches, and apart of the inscription, is the same MC Navy SEALs JLC introduced in the last SIHH.

Here is a picture of the watch, look at the seconds hand and how the D of the “DIVING ALARM” is above (in the crystal) not under (in the dial):

Two friends have got it, I'm going to see them one of this days. I'll take some pictures to share it.

I'd like to get one myself, but I can't afford it at this moment.

generally in teh first place.  I think the special edition is very special indeed because the only change is very subtle and one would have to know what to look for.  If I were after one of the NSA, I would seriously try for one of this limited edition.

of the regular anti-reflective coating, in favour of the engraving, affects the overall legibility of the dial. It would be great to see some comparison pictures. It is quite intriguing to know that a dealer in Spain has managed to persuade the manufacture to make a very limited 30 pieces only for them. They must have some really die-hard fans down there!

If the price is the same as the regular version, and the reflection is to live with, I suppose this would be a piece to consider

I was offered by my friends in Spain to get one " special " N.S.A, I mean with the writings engraved on the bezel, and I dedided to not get it.

So, I will stay with my N.S.A, well, once it will arrive.



Why?

Because I'm not disturbed by the engraving on the alarm disk, as it makes me think about the Vintage Deep Sea Alarm ( US version ) which had the same engraved alarm rotating disk.

And therefore, I have an anti sapphire coating on the sapphire, which is cool on a sport watch.

So, for those who can't live woth the writings on the alarm disk, the Aldao Edtion is for them, definitely.

For the others, the LE of 1500 pieces is THE piece.

I love this NSA and I decide to order this JLC a few days later !

I have received with difficulty my watch in October with the dial engraved like this ...

I resume, NSA 30ex and 1500ex Out Of Range !!!

Now, before ordering a watch, I shall wait to touch the watch first, thanks JLC !

I gave my " Parole d'honneur " to my AD in Febuary. It is a word that has the importance for me.

In fact, which offends me is this presentation on ThePurist today this NSA. Srivau is right, this NSA is more desirable than the other standard version and besides, it complies with NSA introduced by JLC in SIHH of Geneve.

I shall not speak any more definitivement of this subject, Purists deserves better !

I am sorry for your aggravation and I surely understand it. However, this piece (and this is my understanding) is a request of a group of collectors to a Jeweler in Spain. Initially there where meant to be only 10 pieces exclusively for them with no communication on this what so ever. Then the quantity was then raised to 30 due to the possible international demand that the piece might provoke.

I am not happy that this piece went from 10 to 30 and from being an exclusive piece to a piece that was supposed to be offered world wide, since I was one of the fortunate few to get this NSA. However, you can't be greedy all the time and sometimes you can't be the only one to have something let alone everything. In any case, regardless of these changes I am still happy and feel fortunate to get this piece.

Instead of getting mad why don't you just get the NSA (even at a small loss when selling your current one)? Things like that have happened all the time and will happen all the time so unless you can predict the future than it makes no sense to get mad. There will always be something bigger, better and nicer than what we have right now.

However, due to the change of 10 to 30 I thought it was "vox populi" that this watch was going to be issued (I am sorry but I usually post at the AP forum, although less than usual lately...). I have not been following the forums lately so I am not sure.

So in other words you are disappointed at the fact that they did not make all pieces like the 30? If this is so, than I can only agree with you.

Just stop complaining, get one of the 30 and come to the party on December 10th. Madrid is not Paris but you will have a great time! ;-D

Your upset is understandable. It is always hard when you buy something and some moments later a new/better/different version comes out, that you would preferred to have bought.

I have always understood that new models presented at the shows are either concepts of release candidates. Small changes can always be made before entering the store. Buying a model from a photo or show should always go with some sort of reservation.

As mentioned in this post the anti-reflective coating doesn't stick well enough with the engraving on the saphire. I understood this is important for divers (and ofcourse aesthetics). JLC being only satisfied with the highest quality they decided to go for the coating and not the engraving.

Sadly, because the idea was great. But IMHO their choice is understandable.

First of all, even if you gave your word to your AD, I am certain that he would not object if you change your mind....

This watch is not really a special order that your AD would not be able to sell easily (vis a vis an MMR for example)
and you could always buy something else from him. A wise AD would for certain understand. I feel the same way
when I give my word but you could have told him your concerns and a solution could have been found.

Secondly.... I disagree with you- I prefer the edition that you have, certainly a larger production but the turning dial
is more interesting in my opinion. As far as limited editions, we have found that they are really limited productions as
if a watch is deemed successful more editions will come.....

At the end of the day, if the watch makes you happy that is the most important thing... and you have a great one

I don't think that JLC has changed the rules for a technical problem, otherwise how have these 30 Copies them fabricated !

... but the reason, as Amiaco has mentioned above, is that because of the printing on the inside of the glass they can not apply anti-glare on the inside. they had to choose between printing on the glass of anti-glare so they seem to have chosen anti-glare.

the people that ordered this special piece where aware of that and decided to make the "sacrifice" not to have anti-glare and have the printing instead. I could be that if you had the choice you would have chosen yours after all.

The order of this 30 pieces (initially 10) was made on June 4th. So it is just impossible, unless you have a time machine, for anybody to know before that date.

I only found out about it by this thread......

But, again, I prefer the version that you have.....

... for me there is just no doubt that the ALDAO is THE piece. The anti glare on the inside makes no difference on a watch with a mat black dial like this one ant the more discreet glass printing just makes it stunning. I decided to get this not only because it is 1 out of 30 and the others are 1 out of 1,500 but simply because it is the one that was initially meant to be.

I can't wait to get it o the 10th of December.

If you know the Deep Sea Alarm in its US version, it is quite cool to see this writing on the dial.

Akind of reminder of what was the model it takes its inspiration from.

Tha'ts why I prefer it.

I don't see it as an issue, but indeed, to each his own.
