There were some special EWC, in Limited Edition:

- The Paris Boutique: ( Credit pic: Jester )



- The Emmanuel Coindre version: ( Pic : Ravination )



- The Rossi: ( Pic: Asi )



SS, RG or Platinum, yellow, white or orange parts, black or ruthenium dial ( only the platinum EWC received ruthenium dials ), you had till now an extraordinary choice, but the EWC always came with a right handed watch.

NOW, things are changing, as JLC just introduced a left handed version of the E.W.C.

Announced in Geneva, during the 2009 SIHH, this was has just landed.

The Caliber is, of course, the same ( Cal 752 ), as well as the layout of the dial and the dimensions, BUT while the ruthenium dial only came on the Platinum E.W.C, now it is introduced on this special version.

As a left handed watch it is, the most spectacular change is the location of the 3 crowns:

On the right, the world time crown.

On the left, the chrono pushers, and the crown which is used for the setting of the time.

Don't you find this combo is elegant?

The ruthenium dial is really gorgeous, and looks better in real than in pic ( a Hell to take in pic...)

Compared to the normal Black dialed EWC, this new one looses in strenght what it gains in elegance.

Well, at least this is my personal perception of this watch.

The pushers and crown on the left of the watch give it an unusual look, too, almost original, even if we can immediately recognize an E.W.C.

The EWC is a watch to be seen in the flesh.

As I previously wrote, I didn't like it on the pics, and even in the flesh, when I saw it first.

Then, my mind changed...

So, Truth is a very relative concept...

Speaking from personal experience, I didn't like the Patek Aquanaut in picture. And I still wasn't impressed when it was laid out before my eyes. I was prodded to try it on and all of a sudden the watch looked different on the wrist. It just grew on me.....so I knew I had to order one.

Shouldn't have tried it on.

But it's true how strange some things are.

But unlike the Aquanaut, the EWC looks great in pic. I was hoping that it would a more modest size. 46mm is definitely too big for me.

In an airport lounge, looking at my EWC Rossi while typing this. This version is very interesting, almost make me want to get another one just for fun!

Funny how a dial makes a watch looking different.

To me, the ruthenium dial works very well and nicely with this big watch.

I saw it  on the platinum Boutique Edition, and was already thinking the same, at this moment.

In SS?

Why not in Titanium?

Do you imagine the killing combo between the ruthenium dial and the light grey titanium case???

Nicolas, you should work for JLC's design department!! lol.

What a great combination that would be, if the case looked like the Tides of Time EWC Alarm with this new ruthenium dial - WOW. Maybe I should hold off my next purchase for the time being and see what develops.

I thought there might be yet another watch to add to the list.  LOL. But I don't need a lefty EWC.

Nice idea to add a south paw version of the watch.  I think U.S. President Obama should have one now.

The ruthenium dial is a nice change.  Not crazy about the change to the movement indicator, however.  The semi circle indicator is unique to the EWC (I think -- correct me if I am wrong) and looks better to me, but that is just a personal preference. I know that JLC has moved toward using the straight line movmement indicator on a couple of the the diving watches for instance, where it looks good.  

How about a shot on your right wrist, Nicolas? That is where this watch is supposed to be worn, correct?  LOL.  You just wanted to hide all the big crowns, I know.

I have been doing some reading here on the site about the original development of the modern day JLC chronos (prior to the Duometre) and the EWC in particular, and I continue to be enthralled with the EWC and admire all of the design decisions made by the JLC team in creating this great watch.  Wearing mine now and loving it still.

Not to worry, both JLCs have been getting ample wrist time.  Interestingly, the AMVOX has made me appreciate the EWC even more, and vice versa, for all their differences and similarities.  I remain quite in love with the EWC as a wonderful daily wearer and travel companion. 

So, what is on your wrist these days and what are you thinking about for the future?

I'm sure both your wonderful JLC chrono's get ample wrist time. As for me, my daily wearer is generally my Squadra HT. Since I purchased my JLC, my Omega's don't seem to get any wrist time whatsoever. I am still deliberating about my next purchase, but I am still pretty stuck on the EWC in steel. I absolutely love the Amvox chrono's, but I like the water resistance of the EWC and I think this may tip me towards that particular model. I have to agree with you on another point Respo - the indicateur de marche looks bett on the original EWC as opposed to the rectangle on the left-handed version.

The EWC was a bit misunderstood when presented the first time in 2005, certainly because it was a first for JLC to release such a big watch.

BUT the EWC has some very interesting points, as a reliable caliber, a very solid construction, and friendly complications.

At the end, more and more people are considering it.

And it is fair.

As for the Destro version ( Heerm, I mean Let handed.. ), I think that it is interesting to see this original ocation of the Pushers on a watch we use to see for ...4 years now.

With this ruthenium dial, furthermore, a very nice combo, indeed.

What's not to love it?

A bit too big for me personally, but it is a nice looking contemporary piece from JLC. Though the left-handed version is something new but obviously impractical to the many right-handed people out there, I think that the RG version with rubber strap would not look out of place at a grand prix race.

Well, we have to get used to this big size to appreciate it, indeed.

If we are able to, this is a Chrono to consider.

The Inverssor is a great variation of already great EWC. I actually like the very first one though. The color combination of regular production EWC rules against SEs, IMHO.

One thing I do not like about EWC is some dots at odd positions. My question is why HONG.KONG, NEW.YORK and ABU.DHABI have dots between 2 words? L.ANGELES and R.JANEIRO are OK. But why dots between the words like NEW YORK and HONG KONG?

I thought they were mistakes by JLC but no one answered. Now I can see they are admitting it.

Because I don't see any more dots between 2 city names (HK and NY). Abu Dhabi is replaced with Dubai now.

Was it pure mistake by JLC as I believed?
