As delivery on the final lot of the re-editions appears to be coming through a little quicker, judging from posts & reselling (who would resell this, I don't know!)....

What do you think of the Navy Seals Alarm piece due for fourth quarter delivery, it's to be delivered in a more limited series with genuine contemporary vintage look (a silly description if ever there was one!) with the Polaris style alarm marker but a tougher looking case & rugged strap...

Is the fuss over the Polaris due to the incorrect dial being delivered first and the clamour over the delay it caused or will this model also create similar hype. So far, my compatriots think not, they feel it is almost an updated Compressor Memovox....I'd love to hear your thoughts, as potentially this may be my second choice if I don;t get my hands on the steel Polaris!

What do you mean by "more limited series with genuine contemporary vintage look?"  Unless I missed something, the Navy Seals Alarm will be limited to 1500 pieces. No?

1/ The N.S.A are not rarer than the Polaris: 1500 N.S.A versus 768 Polaris 68 Re Edition, 65 SS Boutique Editon, and 165 In platinum.

2/ I don't think the N.S.A IS an updated Memovox Compressor, you can hardly compare them, as they are very different in size, thickness, style, number of crowns, external bezel / internal for the MC Memo, different layout of the dial, etc...

3/ The Polaris and the N.S.A play on different grounds.

The Polaris is a Vintage, with modern solutions, and a faithful look to the original.

The N.S.A is closer to the Deep Sea Alarm than to the Polaris, because of its external bezel, and because of its 2 crowns instead of 3.

I am convinced that the N.S.A has already its fans, or will find them easily.

To me, it deserves more than to only be an erzats of the Polaris.

In my mind the re-edition is indeed a very nice watch, I had a chance to buy the steel one last year but I was looking for a watch to wear just about every weekday of the year, so the plexiglass and a few other things made me pass on that offer (I have had my current wearer for over 10 years and boy has it taken a few beatings. The sapphire, steel bezel and crown guards have saved it on a number of occations). In retrospect my love has grown more for the 65 model versus the 68.

The NSA has the modern advances we all take for granted now. When the Master Compressor Diver GMT 44mm was announced I immediately started seriously considering it as a candidate, but in the end it was something about the look that was not right for me. The NSA is more in my comfort sone, so to speak. I can agree on the "contemporary vintage" take, but maybe timeless is also a good word for it. I am also very happy that they chose to keep the dial relatively clean (and kept the NS reference on the back).

Actually I have a somewhat of a wager going on with a friend of mine, I am absolutely convinced that there will be another similar diver model (it does not take a genius to see this as JLC has announced that their partnership with the NS will last for years and result in new watches). I could put my money where my mouth is and wait for the next model, but I am overdue for a new watch and the NSA fits my bill (if only a bit big for my wrist, but we shall se when it finally rests upon it ). There will surely be more "unlimited" divers watches from JLC ...

Looking at images & my Father's Compressor, I'm noticing all these fine points to consider....still amazes me everytine just how sonorous JLC's mechanical alarms are!

Lots of pros & cons, the plexi indeed seems strange but not out of place & the green box is very cool.

I gues I'll have to physically wait for the NS model & see if my little wrist can take it!
