I have an opportunity to get a Duometre in yellow gold. But I am not sure if the Rose gold version is a better looking watch. I think the gold/blue hands of the RG looks really sharp - more striking than the more conservative gold/black of the YG version. And I notice that in all of the ads for the watch, they always show the RG version. Also, can anyone confirm that the RG has the egg-shells pattern dial while the YG has a smooth,plain dial? Now of course the YG is a limited edition version , which is nice, and there's no guarantee I can get the RG at a good price anyway.

Advice/comments welcome please.

a notch more interesting in my opinion. Not that there is a trend for RG right now, but i think that when we deal with watches with such a high level of finishing, the RG suits it better, maybe its how it catches the light, maybe its the combo with the dial, ... or maybe yellow gold has been too much used and hints instinctively to raper watches
The duometre hold a top place on my wish list, and definitly in RG. If i were u, unless i really love it, i wouldn't fall for the trap of going for the YG jst because i have a good deal. U will find good deals in the RG, its jst a matter of time. The waiting is also part of the joy, will make u enjoy it even more when u'll get it
Let's wait and see what our JLC moderator, expert among the experts, Mr "Amanico" Nicolas thinks about comparing the 2, knowing that he is a white metal guy.

First of all, welcome here, Fareed Ali.

As for your question, first I can confirm that what you ntocied about the dia of the YG and RG is correct,:

A smooth plain egg shell dial for the YG.

A white Grainé Dial for the RG.

So, now, which one is more interesting?

It is a tough question, as a Duo Metre, whatever the metal, is a superb and very interesting, not to say very exciting watch, and that we're only speaking about the dial and the color of the metal.

I'd say that the YG is very classic, and that some will appreciate it for that.

The contrast between the YG Case and the Egg Shell dial is not important, and some will love it for that, seeing in this lack of contrast the ultimate sign of elegance.

The contrast is much more important on the RG version, enhanced by the Golden hands of the Minutes, Hours and Seconds of the Time function, and the Blue hands of the Chrono Hands function.

The RG case is a bit warmer, too.

So, at the end, it will really depend on what you're looking for, on what you love, and on your personnal tastes.

My only advice would be to try them both before deciding, and you will see that in real, it is much easier to get THE answer!

And the friendly welcomes. I have already seen the excellent photos on the site which have been helpful. Price should not be a consideration as I think if I can get the RG it should be close in price. I believe you are right I will try to see them both in real life to decide. The classic elegance of the YG may make it more versatile for me Maybe the fact the YG is limited edition may "break the tie". Should this be a consideration?

The only important factor is to know which among these 2 sings the louder to you, which is the most appealing for you.

The RG is 1000 Euros less expensive than the YG, which may make a difference at the moment of the final decision, too.

Did you try the platinum version?

Believe it or not I now have the chance to get a Platinum Duometre at an excellent price. I actually got to try it on and play with it a bit and love it completely. I then went back to the forums and looked at the photos you posted. I am not sure if it is the lighting in your photo but for some reason the watch I tried on seems to have a slightly darker face (more grey than white but still very light) and the chrono hands did not seem to be as dark a blue. Also the strap was lighter colour.

Are there slightly different aesthethic versions of the watch around?

Mine comes with a white dial, which corresponds to the Boutique Edition ( not a L.E )

The grzey dial is the " normal " dial, and is really beautiful, too.

I changed the strap for a dark blue one, too.

As for the hands, they are the same.

Depending on the angle you take the pic, or the light, the color of the chrono hands change fromp dark blue to light blue.

I am now the very proud owner of a brand new Platinum Duometre. It does have the grey face as you said- I really like the texture of it - and of course the hands look "normal" under proper lighting.

And also greetings to the rest of the members of this wonderful forum.  I to had to make the decision as to which Duometre to choose for myself.  My A.D. asked me which metal I would like so that he could request that piece as he is a relitively small distributor and would not have access to more than one for quite some time.  I choose the RG based on pictures alone for its warmth and textured dial...(the platinum was very appealing too but having just purchased a platinum Datograph I felt the need to diversify my metals).  After a very long wait my watch finally arrived this past Friday and I must say that I am more than pleased with my choice.  Nicolas posted some gorgeous pictures of the RG version when it was first released that helped boost my confidence when I was waiting for my own...I strongly recommend a look at them.  No matter which route you go with you will be at worst very happy.  Good Luck!!!  Also a quick thank you to all those who have contribute regularly to this forum.  I have really enjoyed reading all of your very informative posts.
