I have a Master Hometime with the calibre 975. When winding the watch should you turn the crown clockwise or counter-clockwise? Thank you for all responses!
Best Regards,
Mike
the crown should be turned clockwise.
Since we don't have thumbs that are 60 cm long, most people may inadvertantly turn the crown a litlle bit anti-clockwise when they draw their thumb back for another winding stroke. This calculation assumes that the crown is turned 30 times and its radius is 3mm

Modern automatics have a safeguard against "overwinding" so the short answer is "Yes".
It is safe to give the thing a reasonable 30 winds to keep it running off-the-wrist. I have no idea if that empirical number is suitable for your particular movement....it works for most of my automatics.
I am not going to re-open that controversial discussion about whether to let unworn automatics run down their mainspring or kept wound up (by hand or mechanical winder). There are enough proponents of either "Way" ....
