Dear all,
after a couple of months of observation and intense consultation if this forum, I thought that next step would be to introduce myself in a first post.
Like you all, I do really have a passion for Jaeger LeCoultre watches, passion which started when I inherited my grand father's Atmos clock. I have been collecting JLC watches for some years now, with a particular interest for memovox models and especially models from the 70's.
Here are some (bad) pics of my JLC watches, definitely modest compared to the beauties that some of you display on this forum :
Atmos clock from late 50's

Two are missing : a memovox E876, and an old memovox from 53.
I actually have a question regarding master control memovox (and not master control reveil):
I recently discovered another variation of the model with grey dial. I thought that the model presented above was the only one for master control memovox : curved inscription "Jaeger-LeCoultre" on the outter dial, and inscription "memovox" on the inner dial, on the opposite side of the alarm arrow.
I found on the net this model : curved inscriptions "Jaeger-Lecoultre memovox" and "reveil" both on the inner dial.

I know that master control reveil also has this inscription "reveil' on the inner dial, but I was wondering why there were two variations of master control memovox. Is that related to the material of the case ? to the production date ?
I'd be happy to find the answer of a question which is definitely not of high priority.
Thanks again for this highly informative forum
Best wishes

Hi Karmin,
Your name sounds familiar from "somewhere else"
Nice K916 memovox collection, I particularly like the 876 (which is the one pictured her, so not missing, I guess you mistook it with the 872).
The 876 is rarely seen and quite rare.
the others are great too (nice blue orange dial on the 873)
Back to your question, and although I am not a sepcialist in 'master' series, I belive that the 'curved' writings are indeed more a sign of period rather than model.
I 'think' the one you show at the bottom (gold, double curved writings, 'reveil') is the oldest, i.e. the first 'master' memovox. Then, I think your version comes in second (before the 'master reveil' was introduced, the 'master memovox' was available in silver dial. after the 'master reveil', the 'master memovox' came in black dial), and finally there was the black-dialed master memovox (hand wound), and the silver dial master reveil (auto), until the time when they were (sadly) discontinued to be replaced by the 'monster' memovox (aka 'compressor').
Not sure this is 100% accurate as again I am not too focused on modern (or recent) series, but that is at least what I think.
Thx to all for your kind welcoming words.
Amanico, you're so right : the deeper you dig into memovox history, the more alternative you find. I try to gather as much information as possible, but it seems that there's no limit...
Clavi, indeed my name sounds familiar to you from "somewhere else" ! I really appreciate both forums, but this one has hte highly appreciated advantage to be dedicated to my favourite brand.
Congratulations for your sharp obseravtion : I mistook and presented an E872 as an E876. Shame on me... I get sometimes confused with reference numbers, even though it's less cryptic than rolex references.
Concerning these writings on master memovox dials, you're porbably right. I'm just surprised that, on these "early" master memovox, you could wear a watch that does not display the brand name at the frist glance (when you're alarm arrow is indicating 12 o'clock). I do not know any other model from JLC or from another manufacture that would present this configuration (upside down name of the brand on the dial).
Once again, thanks for your nice comments.
Best wishes

Like the contrast brought by the tritium on this white dial...this brown orange patina is very sexy!
About the EWA, I agree, this is not a watch that I like, for its design, and this is sad because the alarm and a WT is a nice combo!
Only one exception, the EWA for rossi, in rose gold, due to the fact that the contrast between RG and this black dial is pretty nice...
But the EWA won't go in my collection.
At the end..To each his own, and this is a chance we all don't love the same watches!
Best.
Nicolas

Karmin,
What a great collection of grouvy memovox you have shown here! And also congratulation for your very appealing trio of Master! You can participate here without fear: it seems that you have already catched up the JLC virus !-)
