oh dear duometre
You may recall seeing my post upon my new (to me) Duometre Chronograph arriving last Wednesday. I wound the watch Wednesday and Thursday without issue. It gained 1/2 seconds over that 24 hour period. When I wound the watch Friday, I heard a concerning noise, which I suspect was the main spring on the time-telling side unwinding. The power reserve immediately snapped to 0 on that side. When I looked at the back, the screw on the "hours/minutes" barrel came off somehow and is in the movement. So in for service it goes. I did get a taste of love and look very much forward to its return! Hoping for the best here.
They didn't assume their responsibility and I was forced to pay for a full service after some lunar (Normal for a QL you might say...) and contradictory exchanges with JLC.
A breakage problem on a screw which is not mobile results :
- Either incorrect tightening (too tight);
- or a straw in the metal (possible defect);
- or the screw has become brittle during hardening (thermal shock-related brittleness).
In all cases, it's the manufacture that's at fault... even if a problem can always occur...
Despite this purely factual observation, I was treated to a marketing blah blah blah: The watch is old, it's a lack of service fault... Lol...
JLC has a very singular conception of service and luxury...
I paid around €1,800 for the service, which isn't all that much considering the complexity of the piece... but it left me with a bitter taste...
Hope they will fix it quickly (2/3 months) and free of charge for you...

so unfortunate
in my case the watch was purchased recently from Richemont's own grey/used dealer, with service papers from last November 2023. Let's see how they approach it.

I know that this will be taken care of as if this is systemic it’s quite embarrassing for an established manufacture such as JLC. Once sorted you’ll enjoy this piece for many years no doubt. I have an older model chronograph which has run faithfully for a number of years now so better days are ahead!

And they call themselves The Watchmaker Of Watchmakers?? I have 2 JLCs and both have had issues. Seems their QC is substandard compared other companies in their price tier. Hope your issue gets resolved quickly.

Maybe they are changing up the steel they are using? This was the screw on my new strap, I wore it from new for 3 days. No swimming, not showering. Just walking around.
JLC said they reached out to ether accessories department. It was Silver when I got it.
No idea, I’ve been wearing it for 3 days. I guess Hong Kong was hot and humid? JLC said they will send over a replacement. Maybe it was a faulty screw.
